The OP didn't complain and that was not the post I was responding to.

The OP started a very interesting "project" and that is why I am following this thread. I agree we should be able to repair our own vehicles and that Rivian should open up so it is easier to do it.

I have sidetracked this thread enough. We don't need to keep beating the dead horse. Carry on!
Sorry, rereading I see that now. If there's one thing that gets me going, it's RTR!

Point is I would like the ability to work on my own car so I’m in.

I don't think Rivian is stopping you from that. Maybe a Rivian is just too difficult for you?

Hello,
I am a DIYer and working on a 22 R1T that is a salvage title. I am chasing down gremlins currently. Rivian is very difficult to get information and do diagnostics without the Software.

I am proposing a group buy for the 5500/yr Service Account.

I own an LLC and Will use that for the account. I am an IT Pro so I plan to Create a few different ways to use the Service Account such as
1. remote diagnostic using fancy ethernet tunneling on custom devices, This will allow me to use RiDE software remotely on your vehicle. :)
2. We can work together to get access to the Manuals and Software we need for DIYer repairs and updates. Using the LLC as a front view.
3. We will not be breaking any of their rules to use the software in this way.

I am proposing we get 11 users at 500 a piece.

I will handle the tech stuff. If nothing else I can just mail the Laptop with the Software on it to you :)

Who is in?
Please DM me or Message on FB to actually get started.
Payment will not be needed until we are all ready to purchase
ME = 500
Is this gaining any traction? I would be in. We do EV Rebuilds in Canada. Mostly Tesla's, we are currently on our second Rivian. I would be interested in the RIDE software as well.

To add a bit of context of personal research, even the 5500 subscription will not give us the full access to the RiDE version which they have in service centers. Here is the response I got recently when asked about limitations of purchased RiDE version:

"The Rivian Partner Portal only shows procedures that are approved for third‑party use. Some operations are intentionally hidden for safety, cybersecurity, and customer‑privacy reasons, or because they require Rivian‑only tools or backend access. Telematics and High Voltage are two main topics that are somewhat restricted.
  • If you don’t see a procedure in the portal, it means either:
  • It isn’t approved for third‑party repair yet, or It must be performed by a Rivian service center or a specific Rivian‑certified partner.
"
Additionally, the purchasing the "shared" account is probably prohibited by their policies, so be careful with that, since it's too easy to track down the usage.

As alternative for salvage and DIY community we might can request the Rivian to introduce the paid, VIN-based service access option for much cheaper price. IMO it would be much reasonable for company to do since 3P services can also use it in per-customer cases instead of paying ~5500 per year and not having enough clients.

Wow, I got amazing email today about 30 and 14 days access options but since email has "confidential note" cannot share prices but they seems much more reasonable 😄

P.S. if someone have seen my proposal above and implemented that in so quick manner, I wish you all best 🤗

We have a vendor account here in Canada and got the same email. Similar to what Tesla offers account holders for the Toolbox software. Very good news for the small independent shops.

Did anyone get close to realization on this idea. I just bought R1T of the auction that has minimal damage, but its branded salvage because the seat airbag deployed. Its getting delivered to my house next week.
I'm interested in participating in software purchase, I'm also an IT Pro like the OP.

They will sell us registered shops the software by the day, week or year now. Much better than before. Where are you located?

I'm in MoCo, Maryland. Would you share how to get access to purchase the RiDE software? Is it possible for you guys (shops) to remote in my laptop and access the car if I'm connected via Ethernet cable to it.

I’m interested in this, but wonder what else might be required and possibly unobtainable. Most manufacturers have a bit of software, separate from the diagnostic software, for “engineering”-coding modules and such. From a completely separate post it sounds like on a Rivian, even door handles need coding. My major question is if this capability is within RiDE or is it something we need but can’t have yet?

I'm also interested in taking classes on learning this piece of software. If anyone has any insight or advice on how to buy training courses and get started.

There is not much info out there. That being said Rivian will sell you the software for 2 weeks (or longer, more $) and it is reasonably simple to use. You can do most of what is required to get a Salvage car back up and running.
