Ok, definitely not, but oil is an integral part of manufacturing, transporting, installing and power every one of the chargers.

Wind and solar is specifically used as a source of electricity to the EV chargers in many charging system companies. Admittidly oil is a must for many things, but less and less when options are chosen.

The entire process is oil derived in our current industrial state. The plastics, the wiring insulation, the charge cable sheathing, the wiring that carries the electricity to the charge station, the equipment used to build the charge station components, the equipment used to construct the charge station site, the vehicles that transport all of that around, etc…

Even the clean wind/solar advertised as what powers them is a bit misleading. If there’s a given amount of clean power generated in an area and a bunch of new chargers get installed and claim to pay extra for the clean power then previous users of said power must be now using traditional power generation sources. Yes, higher demand for clean power means more is being constructed but it’s more of an advertising talking point than a real thing.

Exactly why we need to stop burning oil for light duty transportation and power generation (small). Need the oil for other products, not combustion.

I thought they gave at least some of that money out this year? Multiple states and I think gas stations within them (wawa, racetrack, ?) added chargers through this program. Or maybe I'm wrong who knows, need an entire team of wizards to track how the government allocates/spends money these days.

There seems to be this war on oil and a war on renewable clean energy. Both are needed, the oil industry is not going anywhere, however their market share is going to decrease. Renewables have proven their keep in supplementing the grid, and the cost is continuing to decline.

There are references to Wind being cheaper than oil when all "the talking points" are considered. A serch will have them. Of course there are different studies, believe what you will.
