agree, but, it doesn’t start being paid until 4/3 right? So we could conceivably have one more big update to UHF in mid March ish to convince folks. We shall see…
I think they can shove it either way. That pricing is only compelling if they are going to offer you serious features like PtP and eyes-off. Neither of which can any current gen2 do.

I say they feature lock gen2 eyes-on like they did with gen2 touch-on since that's the farthest either system is willing to go anyway. They'll have plenty of future suckers, I mean customers, to help them finance FSD development while it's, well, in development; just like Tesla.

I’m somewhat reassessing my opinion re the value - for my commute *if* it worked with traffic lights & stop signs I‘d probably stump up for it. It works for basically the entire ~10 miles each way, but for a significant portion of it I’m doing an engage/disengage dance every block - making it a novelty.

Excellent distinction: Novelty vs. Feature

What are the chances that Autonomy+ stays at $49.99 per month? I have to think that with future updates and improvements that the price will increase. Didn't Tesla start out with a much lower price? A recent article says FSD subscription prices will increase as its capabilities improve. I think I would rather lock in at $2,500 with the assumption that Rivian will increase.

It could just as well go the other way, as we are seeing with sport mode in next update. Maybe as the features advance the newest stuff stays paid while the old features filter into the free tier. There is no way I would pay $5k for the performance package today, but I did last year when sport mode was an exclusive feature. As much as I hate sub fees, I also feel a certain way about this and its not great. YMMV

Prices don’t go down. If you think you will want it and plan on keeping your truck for long enough for it to even out then buy the package now. I bought it, got my R1T a couple weeks ago, I knew it was a paid option when I ordered it and paid the $2500 a couple days after delivery. It works very well for me as it is, and future improvements will make it better.

Sounds like I’m an outlier here, but I’ll probably pay the $2500 since it stays with the vehicle. Will make our R1 a little easier to sell hopefully 10 years down the road. Not sure I would buy it if I didn’t have enough gear shop points. The wording of the email I received makes it pretty clear that gear shop points cannot be used for the monthly payment but can be used for the full 2.5k

if you haven’t seen it, I urge you to check out the AI day video showing what’s coming with point to point city self driving. That should be coming at some point to G2. I would assume in the next update. It looked impressive.

Does anyone know if the update will be available for 1st Gen R1T Quad? I was an early adopter and feel I got left behind as well, since I was in the batch that the automatic bed cover was abandoned temporarily for the manuals. Now they tell me I cannot have it retrofitted. So I wonder if they will also tell me soon that I am out of luck on the self-driving option too.

Not happening but rejoice. Save 60% and get a Comma AI

Interesting... if I already paid for the subscription, can that transfer to a new Rivian?

Based on all the wording so far, it sounds like it stays with the vehicle:

Autonomy+ one-time purchases remain with the vehicle upon ownership transfer, and product features remain available during the lifetime of feature support for the hardware on the vehicle at delivery.

No. It is tied to the vehicle.

I assume Autonomy+ is planned to stay at $2500 for a while, right. I main, no murmurings of pending price increases?

I was expecting to be a day-1 purchaser since UHF has worked pretty well for me, but I held off after it expired, and honestly, the highway lane-keeping has been pretty sufficient by itself. It's actually better in that I don't get "keep your eyes on the road" nags if I'm literally just glancing at the center screen to input a new nav or change the volume.

Too rich for my blood.... If it was $1500 one time, I might be tempted.
