I think they can shove it either way. That pricing is only compelling if they are going to offer you serious features like PtP and eyes-off. Neither of which can any current gen2 do.agree, but, it doesn’t start being paid until 4/3 right? So we could conceivably have one more big update to UHF in mid March ish to convince folks. We shall see…
Excellent distinction: Novelty vs. FeatureI’m somewhat reassessing my opinion re the value - for my commute *if* it worked with traffic lights & stop signs I‘d probably stump up for it. It works for basically the entire ~10 miles each way, but for a significant portion of it I’m doing an engage/disengage dance every block - making it a novelty.
It could just as well go the other way, as we are seeing with sport mode in next update. Maybe as the features advance the newest stuff stays paid while the old features filter into the free tier. There is no way I would pay $5k for the performance package today, but I did last year when sport mode was an exclusive feature. As much as I hate sub fees, I also feel a certain way about this and its not great. YMMVWhat are the chances that Autonomy+ stays at $49.99 per month? I have to think that with future updates and improvements that the price will increase. Didn't Tesla start out with a much lower price? A recent article says FSD subscription prices will increase as its capabilities improve. I think I would rather lock in at $2,500 with the assumption that Rivian will increase.
Sounds like I’m an outlier here, but I’ll probably pay the $2500 since it stays with the vehicle. Will make our R1 a little easier to sell hopefully 10 years down the road. Not sure I would buy it if I didn’t have enough gear shop points. The wording of the email I received makes it pretty clear that gear shop points cannot be used for the monthly payment but can be used for the full 2.5k
if you haven’t seen it, I urge you to check out the AI day video showing what’s coming with point to point city self driving. That should be coming at some point to G2. I would assume in the next update. It looked impressive.
Not happening but rejoice. Save 60% and get a Comma AIDoes anyone know if the update will be available for 1st Gen R1T Quad? I was an early adopter and feel I got left behind as well, since I was in the batch that the automatic bed cover was abandoned temporarily for the manuals. Now they tell me I cannot have it retrofitted. So I wonder if they will also tell me soon that I am out of luck on the self-driving option too.
Based on all the wording so far, it sounds like it stays with the vehicle:Interesting... if I already paid for the subscription, can that transfer to a new Rivian?
No. It is tied to the vehicle.Interesting... if I already paid for the subscription, can that transfer to a new Rivian?
