I’d jump at an invitation to Normal. Now whether my Mustang Mach-E would get me there is a whole ‘nuther question.
Mine will get me there from Alabama so hopefully you would be good to go ?

Did you need the glass recall? Did you succeed in getting it done? How long did it take?

Mine is into the third week of the third appointment to get it fixed. I’m considering using the state lemon law.

Mine is part of the recall but I have seen no reason to rush to get it done. My dealer mentioned they did not have parts to do it when I was there before Christmas for the 21p22 updates.

Last time I asked CS about first Mile they alluded to Covid related staffing issues putting things on hold.
I reached out today just to check, but it looks to be the same story - CS says there aren't any confirmed locations or timing for demo drives with everything put on hold for Covid.

I am getting tired of COVID being their excuse for everything. Just waiting for that to be the reason they cannot give the interior dimensions of the R1S or the location of their service centers.

As taycan said earlier - have two vehicles at each center, have scheduled test drives, so very limited number of people to minimise risk. I would be happy to just see, and sit in the vehicle and confirm my color choices. That is even lower risk.

I can see COVID tearing through their event staff, given how many people they are around on a daily basis.

All the people I know who have had breakthrough cases are in front facing jobs. Airline pilot, receptionist etc.
Even a “mild” Covid infection can be quite hard on someone, nevermind the long-term neurological impacts which remain in question.

interior dims of R1S are floating around the forum by the way.

COVID is affecting about 10% of people a week, so they should be able to maintain SOME test drive/first look events but they are doing zero.

I think I saw some dimensions on this site, sure would be nice if they were put on the official Rivian site!

For all we know their entire events team has been out sick. “10% of people are affected per week” doesn’t hold water. That’s like saying only 4% of the US population has died of COVID-19.

the specification pages for both model need a lot more detail.

How do forum members know the minimum floor width of a five seater? Has anyone measured or even seen one? Has anyone measured that in a 7 seater? I would appreciate the link to the post if anyone knows where it is.

Don’t work for rivian yet, but work for a company that designs & manufactures medical devices.

A company can control exposure to its workforce at its workplace by enforcing masking, vaccinations, testing and still run its operations.

it is a hard sell for a company to tell its staff to go into a environment where it has to interact with people who it can’t regulate, when day to day operations aren’t dependent on first mile events.

Has there BEEN a Seattle "First Mile"? I've not seen anything.
Exactly. lol

Yes, we did. It was limited to private mobile drives.
