I'll keep my 2025 Gen 2 R1S as long as feasible. I use it for both daily driving and for towing in the summer, and love its versatility. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the charging station infrastructure continues to improve, even given the current political climate. (My last long trip got a little dicey trying to get across WY!) I might consider downsizing when I'm no longer wanting to go on cross-country roadtrips, ~10 - 15 years?

I kept my 2000 Tundra until the Rivian R1T 22 was delivered. Two months after I stopped driving the Tundra one of the wheels almost did fall off.
I love Vivian and will drive her till one of us dies.

I often hear people say they loved their Gen1 Rivian especially R1T. I wonder why? Gen1 vehicles were better built, or better sound system? Any Gen2 owners want to keep their Gen2s for the long haul?
My R1T is fantastic and the service Ctr. is just over 100 miles away, that is not too far. This truck is one of a kind, It's a perfect fit for me. Like the other guy said, tax & lic. on a new one would pay for repairs if needed on my existing R1T with about 60K miles on it. So, I will keep mine another 60,000?

8-10 years has been my track record with new vehicles. Assuming the firmware and software don't start failing I'll be keeping her. Suspension issues may occur but that'd be true with anything I replace it with. Battery and drivetrain warranty is pretty extensive so not really worried about that unless failures start becoming frequent.

2022 Launch Edition R1T. 68k miles. Having major DCFC communication issues service hasn't been able to fix after multiple visits.

Assuming they finally fix the issues, I plan on keeping mine until the wheels fall off. If they can't fix it.... Not sure. Not being able to road trip when you have a camper is not great.

I have a '22 LE R1T too. Had charging issues on my last road trip in September with 70K miles. Service Center couldn't find anything wrong in their diagnostics. Sometimes it would start up fine at a RAN and then error out at some point during the charge. Then it wouldn't communicate by plug-and-play. I would have to initiate the next session via the app. Infotainment reset didn't help. Once I did a hard reboot, it would accept plug-and-play for the next charge session...until it would eventually error out. I have a road trip coming up in 2 weeks so we'll see how that one goes.

Trading my LE R1T for R2 LE. Then probably trading the R2 in for R3X.

We'll probably keep the R1S LE until it starts to be less reliable. The gen2 R1S is a lease, and it'll go back when the lease is up and likely not be replaced.
I'm keeping my LE R1T. have you seen the trade in values? It's soo bad, but I want that r3x just as bad!

The trade-in value is so bad! While in Jushua Tree last May, I got an estimate while visiting the RAN Outpost there. For my '22 LE R1T, at 58,219 miles, the trade-in estimate was $51,820. On December 31st, at 71,324 miles, the trade-in value dropped to a whopping $33,350!!!! Yup....keeping it until the wheels fall off and can't be put back on again.

I am curious if battery replacement will be under $100/kwh..if i could replace a battery at 200k miles for under $14k i would sign up. But i think Rivian will be more interested in selling me a gen7 r1s at that point..
If you think about it, Rivian would be wise to start selling “future” batteries. It creates a revenue stream and brand loyalty. As an amateur photographer, I hope that Rivian doesnt do what Nikon and every cell phone manufacturer does, by making each battery a unique size, ensuring that each one is singular to each car model.

Keeping my R1T gen2 until lease ends December 2027. By then hopefully we'll have about a year or more of experience driving the R2 we have reserved now. If we really love the R2 experience, we might consider having 2 R2s, but otherwise I'm inclined toward a BWM iX3 maybe with a Slate truck for the occasional project and perhaps letting my son drive it as his learner.

I can’t hand my gen2 R1T in fast enough. I won’t be keeping it. 11 problems, roughly 20 days in the shop, in the first 3,000 miles. Despite confirming settings for minimal power draw, the battery drains 2-4% each night in the garage, several basic technology failures, abysmal customer service….not worth the money or the hassle. I’ve actually turned a few friends off to Rivian after they’ve asked about my truck. I really wanted to like it…unfortunately this company has a decent amount of things to fix before I become a believer.

I will probably keep my Gen 2 for a while and so I may opt to pay for the Autonomy+ software.

Anyone else have the same consideration or why not?

With all the issues finally (finally) solved with my launch edition, im 66k miles in and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off.

Might even buy a new battery pack when this one finally degrades too much.. who knows

Same here, or, untill the repairs cost exceeds reason, and then another R1T.
By the time the Battery pack gets weak in mileage there will likely be a better battery system to retro install.
With the new 21" Defender tires available I am seeing this vehicle very cost effective.

Are you using the 21" Defender tires? If so how's the tread life?
