I hope launch is available in different wheel and tire specs. Would love the all terrain ones. Don’t like the larger or the range ones on the slightest.

Not a lot of options for the 21" on the R1S. why would they bring it back after discontinuing it.
Far more options now for R1 than just a year ago, including a AT. And more could be coming. Plus, you are incorrectly assuming R2 uses same overall size tire. R2 almost guaranteed to run a smaller size.

I'm surprised that tires company actually catered to 275/55/21 size even after rivian discontinued it for gen 2. I remembered people are thrilled when Michelin came out with the 2nd option !

$7500 from losing the tax credit + $5000 over expected = $12500 more than when deposit was placed. Not entirely Rivians fault of course, but it is what it is.
Rivian's pricing never factored in the tax credit.

But is the R1 the only car using or is compatible with that size? There could be more, or more coming.

I'm confused once again by the brake caliper colors. Either they are showing a tri in the photos, or now they are adding yet another motor variant to the yellow caliper club LOL
My guess is that the R2 duals have yellow, tri will be lagua blue. Kinda seems like the current caliper color scheme is laguna blue for the top spec (R1=quad, R2=tri) and yellow for the mid spec (R1=tri, R2=dual) and gray for entry spec (R1=dual, R2=single RWD).

Well, like some of our forum family, I too am bit disappointed with the price vs specs. It is soooo 2023 kind of EV.

Also the fact that $45k model is not until late 2027 (today, who knows the actual date) was met with disappointment and stock sold off as soon as the pricing data was leaked.

Since I am not in the market to buy R2 class of vehicle, I can objectively say that both iX3 and EX60 looks more appealing even if its few thousands more. When compared to the base model at $45K, R2 is more affordable but it has to compete with the Equinox/Blazer/BZ competition.

As a shareholder, I hope that the style and appointments are enough to do well beyond the initial surge from Rivian fans.

Agreed. It won't be a Tesla killer. The LE seems to be a great value, but the rest of the pricing could be a bit disappointing depending on the paint color and option costs.

As others have said too, the R2 Standard is going to be a major disappointment and will be cancelled fairly quickly. They had to hit that $45k price point to save face. But 265 miles of range, in late 2027 no less, plus stripped down features (no ventilated seats, heated only in front, 5 speaker sound system, etc.) equals dead on arrival.

I think the LE will sell fantastically to those that are Rivian fans, EV enthusiasts, and/or have had deposits down for 2 years. Beyond that, the pricing and specs of the rest of the lineup does not seem to equate to mass market success.

The Toyota RAV4 was the number 1 selling SUV in America in 2025 at 479k units. Assuming full production capabilities of the R2 line by 2028, I would be surprised if they sold 150k+ units of the R2 that year.
I COULD be wrong, but TSLA NEVER actually ended up offering a true $35K Tesla Model 3, even stripped of all decent features, connectivity, pleather seats, no sunroof, no rear floor mats, it was a higher priced model that was software limited.. so a major loss product that only stayed on the website for a couple months.. even then, one had a very hard time getting a Tesla showroom to spec that model and deliver it, and within 9 months it was no longer an option even for special order. If Rivian can actually deliver a reasonable vehicle for $45K, within 12-18 months of product launch, I’ll call that hitting a target.

I shared these numbers with a coworker that doesn't currently have an EV, but is in the market (not sure exactly when). He's excited for it! Of course, this is antidotal...
