I see some clarity regarding this white interior option now. It comes via a video I saw last night from State of Charge and Tom Moloughney.
The white “Coastal Cloud Signature” interior IS AVAILABLE during the Launch Edition period as an optional upgrade.
When I first posted about this subject with my disappointment about what I thought was the lack of a white interior option for the launch, I was reacting to RivainTrackr’s article from 3/13 stating the white interior wasn’t available at all at launch.
I probably should have gone straight to the Rivian newsroom feed on the Rivian website to confirm this because they did post on 3/12 about this on launch day. They had a small paragraph listing the “options”. https://rivian.com/newsroom/article/rivian-introduces-r2-lineup
Honestly, I think Rivian could do a better job of clarifying this a bit more on the main R2 website feature page, beyond just a paragraph in the news feed.
Nonetheless, what is confirmed now is in line with what I was posting about when this all started.
I basically stated that:
Even though there’s a lot of current R1 owners with R2 reservations, I don’t think they will all go for the performance LE during this limited run of launch R2’s. I think there are some that want to hold out for GEN 3 with LIDAR (no eyes autonomy), or they simply want a lower priced trim because it will be a second car for a soccer mom, or they don’t need all the extra power and fluff.

I basically stated that:
- I would be willing to wait longer for a white interior delivery if it made production more efficient for Rivian by running the black interior first
- I also stated I would even pay extra for it. I just wanted to get it as part of the launch edition package.
