As long as you don’t feel any binding after the parking brake is released, no damage will be done that I’m aware of. I’m not a professional so take that as you will, I am not responsible for anything of course. Just passing on my experience with having dealt with it.

Thanks! I'll try jumping the 12v battery first of course. I got the pyrofuse as well, but I'm not sure if the tow truck will be willing to wait for me to troubleshoot all that.
Yeah I doubt that, will take you a few hours just to access the pyro fuse to begin with. Best of luck.

Some have used simply a 9 volt battery to run the rear parking brake motors. Rip a battery contactor clip out of an old toy, attach to a good battery, and you have a parking brake retractor tool. Be careful to run the park brake motor only a couple seconds at a time until it releases, any more and you risk pulling the piston back so far it gets stuck and you are buying a new caliper.

Did you do this on your truck? I read the location is under the dashboard on R1T 1st gen. I'm not talking about the battery pack pyrofuse, because the battery is charging, so I'd say that one is ok.

Did any airbags deploy? Odd that the battery would be taking charge. If the pyro fuse blew the entire system should de offline. Yes, I replaced pyro under dash. Pain in the butt to get to.

Sounds like I had a much better time with mine when it arrived. Was able to revive the 12v with jumper cables and just drove it off in turtle mode.

I will second the warning about letting someone lift the Rivian with a forklift. While I was able to repair all of the collision damage myself, the damage that CoPart did with their forklift to my R1T cost another $4k to repair at the SC.

Yeah, I guess I'll have yet to see and hope there's no damage. Copart already loaded it bc it was shipped from Houston, TX to Baltimore, MD. Copart also messed up the location so my car ended up 1 hour away from me, due to the angry delivery driver. I saw your damage in the other thread.
The battery looks like it's charging from the photos, but it could be incorrect.

Only Driver seat airbag deployed. The damage is on the driver rear door and gear tunnel door and it looks repairable. I'll most likely replace both parts.

With an airbag being deployed the pyro fuse has blown. I don’t think it will have any power available without it being replaced but I could be wrong. Best of luck!

@ERod818 and @Rivanero what did you guys do to clear out the codes after replacing the airbag module and fixing the damage. Did you take it to Rivian Salvage inspection?
Thanks guys! This is all very helpful! Appreciate your help!
I'm sure I'll have more questions for you in the upcoming weeks.

I’ve been through this ....What is engaged is the rear parking brake, if the tow truck driver is cool and you’re willing all you have to do is unplug the connectors at the rear parking brake at each rear wheel, use a pair of wires/probes, and a 12 volt source whether it’s a battery off one of your current cars, and just reverse the parking brake motors by applying the 12 volt power at the prongs within the connector of the actual parking brake. Easy, can’t mess it up. If you apply power you will hear it tighten or loosen. Obvious sound, if it tightens stop and reverse your wires applying power, then you’ll hear them reverse. A second or two is all it takes and it will disengage....
Quick thread hijack — does this trick actually let you swap the rear pads without going through all the Rivian ritual? And on a perfectly healthy R1, is it gonna throw any codes if you do it this way?

This is the picture from the auction listing. Again, I'll know more once I receive the vehicle tomorrow. It could be that the airbag didn't really deploy, because it's not fully visible on the other photo. I'm just guessing that it did bc the center console is dead. It could be that it has other issues, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm assuming that the white paper looking thing next to the seat is the airbag, but it's hard to tell.
