This is a small subset of Rivian owners or prospective R2 reservation holders, but isn't it crazy how many reservations there are for CA vs all the other states combined?

Could that possibly be related to the price of the fossil fuel called gasoline?

I don’t really think in CA it’s related too much to the price of gasoline here.. CA has pretty much always paid about .75-1$ more than the national average.. of course inner cities and some places are even higher, but that is true for ANY inner city or metro area regardless of state of political bent.

I think in CA it’s always been a climate forward sTate, pushing the legislative side AND the technology side. This is where the most PRIUS were sold ~.20 years ago when they first came out and where the MAJORITY of Tesla Roadsters were sold. there were state incentives before there were federal incentives.. and LOTS of corporate incentives as well.

The Goog had a $7000-8000 EXTRA purchase incentive given to employees to buy a Prius when they first came out.. this was on top of state incentives.

And I’m not sure but CA was probably the first state to allow ZEV in the carpool lanes even with just one occupant. That program just ended.

So it really started here, all the large OEM started here, Tesla, Rivian now, Ford, GM, Mercedes, BMW all have their R&D facilities headquartered here, even though manufacturing for those EV stayed first in the Midwest or Germany before moving to established plants in Arkansas and South Carolina for the German OEM.

So it makes sense that the highest level of adoption for CA born, engineered and for many built EV are in CA.

And as the saying goes, once you go EV You never go back to ICE (mostly)
