Employees receiving R2 first. Does this forum have any Rivian employees? Will/Can they answer questions?

I know little about Rivians in general, but it seems likely that R2 option pricing would be very similar to R1 option pricing. You can go there right now and see what R1 paint, interior, etc. option upcharges are. Perhaps R2 might be slightly less following proportional size ratio due to smaller raw material quantities required?

The R1 option prices are not based on actual cost but what they think the market will bear. For R2 $2500-3000 paint options will not fly when all competitors including BMW, Volvo and Porsche offer multiple colors well under $1000. Those manufacturers also offer multiple interior colors for either free or a small charge (not $2000 as in R1).

I certainly hope that's true! Wanting the blue or dark green with light interior myself.

Over on the Ford Mach-E forum there is a person who is paid by Ford to post and comment with official voice of Ford. For me, it buys a lot of goodwill. Rivian should do the same.

Rivian employee here, you can tell by all the warnings they give me for posting IP and "protected knowledge" on this site.

What questions do you have? I already picked up my R2, but immediately sold it to an Emir. Alas... It didn't survive the shipment process

In any case, I wouldn't mind if Kyle got his R2 early, he does run long.. but he drills down on the geek stuff other reviewers and even owners don't get in to.

Would anyone know if the Normal factory has any historical references to DSM production? Museum? Hallway of photos? My first car was 1990 Plymouth Laser Turbo, made in the very same factory during Chrysler-Mitsubishi JV. Would love to do factory delivery when the time comes and come upon any mementos of those past years.

When I did a tour in 2023 there was nothing about the previous history. It was a good tour but focused solely on Rivian which makes sense.
