The R1 option prices are not based on actual cost but what they think the market will bear. For R2 $2500-3000 paint options will not fly when all competitors including BMW, Volvo and Porsche offer multiple colors well under $1000. Those manufacturers also offer multiple interior colors for either free or a small charge (not $2000 as in R1).I know little about Rivians in general, but it seems likely that R2 option pricing would be very similar to R1 option pricing. You can go there right now and see what R1 paint, interior, etc. option upcharges are. Perhaps R2 might be slightly less following proportional size ratio due to smaller raw material quantities required?
I certainly hope that's true! Wanting the blue or dark green with light interior myself. The R1 option prices are not based on actual cost but what they think the market will bear. Paid by Ford .... are they going to say anything other than positive??Over on the Ford Mach-E forum there is a person who is paid by Ford to post and comment with official voice of Ford. For me, it buys a lot of goodwill. Rivian should do the same.
Brian, the rep over there, has developed a reputation of being trustworthy and helpful. it can be done properly.Paid by Ford .... are they going to say anything other than positive??

You can joke all you want, but he made it very clear that he does have a very early R2 reservation this time...like the minute the site opened.Does Kyle count as a Rivian employee? He's a member here. He'll likely get, er.. purchase one of the earliest R2's![]()
99k problems, and a mile ain't one!You can identify the employees on this forum as the ones who post "100k miles, zero problems!" (I kid, kinda)
Welcome back, Chief!99k problems, and a mile ain't one!
Rivian employee here, you can tell by all the warnings they give me for posting IP and "protected knowledge" on this site.
What questions do you have? I already picked up my R2, but immediately sold it to an Emir. Alas... It didn't survive the shipment process

That's Chief Warrant Officer - select! The warrant corps must be getting desperate, amirite?Welcome back, Chief!
Yeah, a lot of us here did the same thing. Let's see who gets their R2 first...You can joke all you want, but he made it very clear that he does have a very early R2 reservation this time...like the minute the site opened.
who?Does Kyle count as a Rivian employee?
Orlok's vict...visitor last week. Haven't heard from him since; your party must have been killer!who?
If this forum does have current Rivian employees who are in the process of receiving their R2, how soon can they answer questions from the general public? Does this forum need to post questions in different categories that employees can input on without releasing their names?
I know an employee
Guarantee there are lots of employees on this forum, they just don't identify themselves.
Went to my Normal Rivian employee's house
Would anyone know if the Normal factory has any historical references to DSM production? Museum? Hallway of photos? My first car was 1990 Plymouth Laser Turbo, made in the very same factory during Chrysler-Mitsubishi JV. Would love to do factory delivery when the time comes and come upon any mementos of those past years. There are definitely employees here and on Reddit. They've posted before.
When I did a tour in 2023 there was nothing about the previous history. It was a good tour but focused solely on Rivian which makes sense.Would anyone know if the Normal factory has any historical references to DSM production? Museum? Hallway of photos?
