If that's all true can't see why you would be pushed other than delivery location.

Hopefully the email is a mistake because from everything we've been told that configuration should be part of the first batch of trucks. I would check in with them and make sure your config is properly noted in their system. Fingers crossed for you that it's not a long delay.

Thanks man. I got all my appendages crossed at this point. I may call CS and confirm. Again, they told me my confit would be locked on the website but I can still go make changes to the packs ie can select max pack. Strange. Or they’re just behind locking everything up.

I wouldn't chance it. I'd hit up that link they mentioned and confirm everything in case there is an inconsistency on the back end. We'll keep the good vibes flowing.

How would this possibly work? If the car is being registered in Washington, how would it not be considered a direct sale? If you buy a car out of state, you pay taxes in the state you register it.. not purchase it. You'd need a residence or LLC in a different state to register and import it. If Rivian is "buying" the car and reselling it, you'd be purchasing a used car which means no tax rebate and different loan/insurance terms.

I can't help but wonder if this isn't a real issue that Rivian is hoping becomes a non-issue by the time they've really ramped up deliveries. I know most states are trying to update the law to allow direct sales by companies like Rivian.

Tesla is grandfathered in, obviously, but if someone knows of any loophole Rivian can use that doesn't force them to sell the car used I'd like to hear more about it.

I bought a new car at the Chevy dealer in Sandy Oregon. They sold it to me with all appropriate local paperwork and such. They then sent the paperwork to a company in Longview Wa that transferred it to Wa-collecting all the appropriate paperwork/taxes. It was all done in one shot and my title and plates showed up 2 weeks later. I forget the name of the company in Longview but all they do is exactly this. The dealer had a set process as they do this all the time. I was a bit nervous having never done this before but the dealer knew exactly how to do it. Could not have been easier.

I got an update email today. What do they mean they’ll reach out to me in a few months. Looks like I won’t see a delivery window until end of the year.

The email mentions (and gives you a link to) a "Customer Engagement Center". That's not something I recall ever seeing on the Rivian website or in any of the emails I've received from Rivian. Have others on this forum seen this term used?

Outside of the context here, I've seen the term "Customer Engagement Center" used to refer to a backend portal that CS staff use to perform their day-to-day work --something you'd never have a customer/client access directly.

How convinced are you the email is authentic?

Hahaha. I do for two reasons:
1. I would rather not pay say.... 10% sales tax or something twice.
2. In the office chance that this off-the-hood tax rebate sticks in the WA budget and is implemented in July, I'd like to not have an excuse for the State to exclude Rivian buyers from it with us not purchasing it "here".

I have no children, our roads are, well, it’s Pennsylvania, and I live in a small municipality with no police department, want to try again? . (Incidentally education is principally funded via property taxes here.)

Not at all. I haven't finished the configuration because I was trying to validate how long this thing might take. I also wanted to drive the darn thing and see how I fit in it. I am a bit over 6'5" and 255lbs so I don't fit in every vehicle comfortably. That said, watching Doug DeMuro's review of the truck and knowing that he is tall, helped assuage that concern a bit.

On my account, the number after it says 7245 or at least, that is what I can tell.

Well you better get on it! If you want delivery this year, Large pack in Adventure trim, any color combinations and accessories. If you want Max pack or explore, be ready to wait till June 2023 at the earliest.
