I think the rear quarter panels on the R2 are a separate replaceable piece that will be easier to repair. Hopefully they do something like this on the Gen 3 R1s.
Omg yes can’t wait for the r2 and or gen 3 R1s/t with lidar that would be so cooool

I wonder if we can use lidar to zap bugs when camping

I knowwww, glad it all worked out! Need to reconsider where I should park now hahaha
My R1T was 2-days old when it got clipped by a wind driven shopping cart at Home Depot. After that (and a $225 PDR bill) I parked as far away from the store that I can, I also try to park in an uphill portion of the lot to prevent another runaway cart strike. HD in my opinion is one of the worst places to park. You get a lot of one-man-show sketchy contractors parking their 1980's era beater vans anywhere but in the middle of their spot and of course they blast open their doors as SOP regardless if anyone's parked next to them. I've also personally seen one of those white beater vans back into the car across from them and they just kept driving like it never happened. No note, they didn't get out to check for damage, they didn't hang around and wait for the driver, nothing.. they just took off it didn't happen.

Agree. I've seen this too. Have contemplated getting a "Home Depot Car" so I wouldn't worry about it so much.

Around here commuters have "station cars" which they park at the train station lots which have very tight spots. The annual insurance costs more than the vehicle in this case. Good for HD and Walmart runs too where dents are part of the shopping "experience"

Absolutely agree! I took this photo last week when I had to run to HD:
Rivian R1T R1S Door dinged 1776341806599-01

I never saw the owner of the T, but we're actually in the far reaches of the Old Navy lot across a "mall street" from HD. Take no chances...Have no remorse.

Home Depot's co-founder/CEO is a heavy backer of anti-EV political groups.

I now take my big-box home improvement business to Lowe's if I can.

I try not to forget my community's locally owned hardware and building supply stores either.

Best wishes!

So sad that everything is political nowadays and we can't just go shopping at a big box home improvement store without feeling like crap. I also support my locally owned mom & pop place but sometime you have to go bigger. I hate it.
