Anybody knows how long temporary tags are suppose to last in Illinois? Three months? If so this must be one of the two boss R1Ss.

They hand select the best looking vehicles for First Mile events, hence why instead of leaving them places they send the same vehicles to each event. So what you see at a First Mile event represents the best they can do, not the average. That doesn't mean the average is bad, we don't have a large enough sample size to tell, but First Mile/show cars don't prove anything. They don't look like that any more! : )
I saw ten or fifteen R1Ts at a First Mile event and they were flawless.
That one looks like a hand built mule that's been pulled apart and put back together over and over.
like press fleet vehicles, they're white-gloved and kept that way, but at least they can be 100% … Tesla still can't be sure of a 100% vehicle … even the S Plaid has people reporting completely inexcusable defects and complete breakdown of the power train … Rivian certainly can't afford that on their reputation nor can they afford the cost of a wide recall or major reliability failure. They hand select the best looking vehicles for First Mile events, hence why instead of leaving them places they send the same vehicles to each event. my sense is if Rivian sees this level of issues coming off the line, it will not make it past there. i think they are focused on quality and not just having an image of it so they would not even attempt to give this to a customer. just my opinion though so we'll see.I think as they ramp up, there is a chance for mishaps but I am hopeful at least initially, they will do what they can to keep customers happy. I have the impression they really care about their image and once customer deliveries are made with no NDA agreements, their service can be the main source of negative comments floating on internet and for a new company, that could be a death sentence. So I think their intention most likely is to keep us happy after delivery. Their ability may be a different story. We will see.
Agree … Tesla’s motto is “Just Ship It”. I can only imagine how bad held back vehicles (if any) must be! Rivian has a golden opportunity to learn what works (and more importantly what doesn’t) from Tesla!my sense is if Rivian sees this level of issues coming off the line, it will not make it past there. i think they are focused on quality and not just having an image of it so they would not even attempt to give this to a customer. just my opinion though so we'll see.
Thanks for the update and photos!Just drove by the South San Francisco service center and I counted about 16 R1T’s outside and their roll up door was open and there were a bunch more inside. I’m sure they’re all being prepped for delivery. I counted 3 of the launch green, 1 blue, 1 silver and the rest were white. There was also one leaving the service center. Pictures below. I have no idea when I will get my R1S. I just ordered it earlier this year.
