Borealis and Forest Green not available at R2 launch

I got my reservation on March 8th, so the 2nd day

I did check the box recently for accepting the Launch Edition… but realistically I will not be able to get a launch edition with my reservation date.

I would like the Half Moon Gray, my wife prefers the new blue color (something cove). She prefers the white interior, black for me

It will be her car so who knows.

I will say the Autonomy+ for life and tow package is a big bonus to take the black interior.

21” wheels are not my first choice either, I prefer the 20” for tire choices especially being we change (i.e. buy tires) for winter and summer.

I wanted to configure my (double) R2 reservations with Half Moon Grey and the other with Borealis and both with cloud interior and off road package but with 21 Inch wheels for range.

I will use atomic wheels for my aftermarket 20inch off road wheels.

It's sad to hear interior color and exterior color is delayed until 2027 but with all the upcharges and 2027 autonomy upgrades assumed an R2 as configured above it is getting close to Gen1 pre-price hike pricing with less utility as my Gen 1 R1S Quad.

Do you have a source document or video you could provide that states it was "explicitly stated as being available" at launch"? I will apologize to those if so.

I will look later but it was at the SXSW event in person as well as the color sticks. It was clear it was included in the LE until they made this last minute change (as they did with Forest Green - although that was not physically present). Not sure what’s difficult about this.

If it was not going to be present then why have it on the website or in the March event?

What they showed at the SXSW event is irrelevant to what is in the LE package. SXSW is just a glorified marketing event for R2. They will have all those colors available for anyone who wants one, other than the select few who ordered 2 years ago and want one ASAP in a LE package lol.

I personally don’t think they committed to anything and it’s all hearsay, but as I said if you find something that - using your words here - “explicitly stated as being available” at launch then I will apologize no problem. No worries either way!

If that is true, then there will be only two colors Catalina Cove and Launch Green with the remaining color between white and black. That is crazy.

I do hope the color choices are better with the R3X.

I'm in agreement. I love Rivian as a company, but the R2 color choices have been highly disappointing. Where are some light color options besides white? No light blue/gray, sandstone, or a launch green that would be lighter gray/green.

Esker Silver is a light option and they already have two shades of green. If they offered three shades of green I think some here might have an aneurism.

At 14:15 in the below video, the employee discusses colors and appears to indicate Borealis as a “later” color, has anyone heard or seen anything to support or contradict this? It’s weird a color they explicitly said they made just for R2 to be a non-launch option.

Technically Catalina Cove (aka teal) is bluish-green!

Glacier White, Esker Silver, and Launch Green are light colors, but there aren’t any warm or bright colors, like Red Canyon, Compass Yellow, or Rivian Blue. Catalina Cove, Forest Green, and Borealis are all kind of dark. Darker colors are harder to keep clean and they attract more heat.

Just for baseless speculation - thoughts on whether MY28 might bring different colors as soon as 2nd production year? Did that happen for R1?

Default choice is Glacier White but have time to wait - would like to see Red Canyon, Compass Yellow, and/or California Dune just based on R1s I've seen. But who knows, maybe I'd just stick w/ white if none of them work on R2, gotta see it live to know, etc.
