Based in Southern California where temperatures were warmer this past winter.

Installed 11/25. As of today (5/26), going off the in-car trip meter:
8,755 miles
3,860 kWh
2.25 mi/kWh
37 mph
9d 23hr

Prior to taking off original Pirelli’s (12/23 to 11/25):
33,500 miles
13,684 kWh
2.53 mi/kWh

Hope that helps. Will update along the way!
What would you say your city/highway splits were with each set of tires?

Thanks - that gives me someplace to start extrapolating from. I usually don't drive as fast on the freeways, so I should hopefully get better numbers...

makes sense to me, ~8% efficiency drop for a tire that is 16% heavier…not bad at all…

I updated last night. This morning, while driving, me: "Hey Rivian, what is the tire pressure?"
Rivian: "The tire pressure is 0 psi."
Me: "Hmmmm. Seems to drive OK despite that."
After parking: "Hey Rivian, what is the tire pressure?"
Rivian: "The front left tire pressure is 50 psi. The front right tire pressure is 50 psi. The left rear tire pressure is 49 psi. The right rear tire pressure is 49 psi."

That is spot on what the display says. I have not tried the test again while driving.

If you were not driving for long enough when you first asked, it might not have had updated values, and thus reported zero back. It takes at least a mile or two of driving to update the numbers from the TPMS.

The Ion has 900 UTQG IIRC. That suggest to me possibly harder and longer wearing compound, relative to Defender and Scorpion MS. And is probably losing efficiency because of it. Trading grip for longevity.

If it’s observed to break loose more readily than the other two tires, that’d just about confirm it—that less of the expended energy is translated to distance traveled.

Keep in mind, the efficiency of the tire goes up as it wears. The last 10,000 miles will be significantly higher efficiency than the first 10,000 miles.

I'm now getting ready to pull the trigger for the 21" tires and I'm still not sure what to get. Biggest issue is that the Michelin tires are available at Costco and the price is the price but the Hankook I can't find anyone that has them locally which means ordering them then paying for the install.

This puts the price difference ~$200 between the two sets and Costco has a 5 year Road hazard warranty. I keep seeing people report higher range with the Hankook over the Michelin tires. Are either tire softer with bumps than the other?

Is it worth the ordering process and finding an installer for the Hankook ($1280 + install) or should I just hit up Costco and go with the Michelin ($1530)?

Too many factors are involved with user reports on efficiency. People live/drive in different climates, elevations and air density. They also drive on different road surfaces and have different driving habits. Only $200 total different between the two sets? If you need tires now, why sweat? Get the best option available now. The Michelins are also 5 lbs lighter. If every place you've checked do not have the Hankook in stock, sort of asking Hankook directly, chances are everyone is waiting for Hankook to produce and deliver stock.

People reporting higher results with the Hankook? That's surprising to me. In these forums alone I've yet to see a single person say they got better results than their factory all season tires. Are you sure you're not mistaking reports from those who switched from ATs? Efficiency gains going from AT to AS is a given, unless the AS is completely hot garbage.

As for Costco... as long as your Costco knows how to jack up a R1 without damaging it.
