Credit card for part of purchase?

Plaid just lets you grant read-only access to your bank accounts to a 3rd party for verification purposes. They aren’t a payment processor like Zelle or Venmo.

My interactions with Plaid have all been through financial institutions, not straight between me and Plaid.

Financial institutions trust Plaid, which may have been around longer than Venmo or Zelle.

That's correct - you the user interact with Plaid through Rivian's app, connecting your bank account etc.

Rivian should make a deal where you can order on Amazon and use their 5% cash back card.

I purchased through a "used luxury dealer" and put the balance after my trades (10k ish) on my CC, then paid it off at month's end for the points.

It took the dealer's finance guy and sales manager a few rounds of back-and-forth before they agreed to it. I am pretty sure they weren't supposed to do it that way, but they eventually relented.
