Can someone share a timestamp of cut the line Kyle complaining about not being able to cut the line this time? Since he skipped me and many others for the Gen 1 R1Ts we were all waiting for, I could use the lulz of him bitching about not getting special treatment again.

Watch the video because RivianTrackr Jose is the GOAT and you know he’s getting a cut of the ad revenue.

in one of his videos he commented on this. He said he knows many people think his videos are too long and he talks to much. He said he tried to change but then realized that is just the way he is, and that is the way he will do his videos. It is great to know who you are and embrace it.

Personally, I really like his videos. At 1.5X.

It's because of money. The longer your videos are and the more watch time they get the more money you make

Videos above 10 minutes you can put unlimited ad breaks as far as I am aware which is why all youtubers started extended videos above 10 minutes

There are limits to the number of ad breaks people will tolerate so they just make the videos longer

I enjoyed seeing the 10% challenge on the R2. Yes, Kyle wasn’t driving 70mph, but 80mph. But I think it’s also more realistic of a freeway roadtrip speed. In California, I’m often going between 75-85mph on open highways.

2.2 miles/kwh. It’s what one would expect from the R2. Not great, not bad. Just so-so.

I get it. Kyle and his shenanigans can take a toll on his audience. I would not own a Hyundai Ioniq 5 had I not watched his review almost 4 years ago. My car has been great. The issue hear is his passion can be a turn off. Why we should cheer him on is because manufacturers watch his videos and listen to his criticisms. We will have a better R2 once he‘s done with his videos series because Rivian take note on any improvements that need to be prioritized. I implore every normal human/consumer to not watch his videos without skipping or speeding thru any Out of Spec video.

I've heard this line of reasoning about Kyle and his videos before and I really don't agree.

Rivian has thousands of engineers and technicians and has done many thousand of hours of testing in the lab and on the road going through countless scenarios over several years. They've had employee owned vehicles on the road for months gathering data and giving feedback. They get telemetry data from the fleet on the road and service center reports of owner issues.

I don't think one guy making some YouTube video in a single afternoon really tells them something they don't already know. Now, there might be an argument to be made that Rivian gives a response to something he does but I see that as a way to be engaged with and communicate with Rivian owners rather than responding to some real engineering input on his part that they weren't already working on. And if Rivian did react to something he advocates I'm not sure that's a good thing as I find his methods and priorities in a vehicle to not always be well aligned with mine.

But Kyle didn't compare how fast all five windows roll down between the two vehicles....oh wait

All of this data means nothing to me (and most of the masses). The R2 is simply a better looking vehicle IMO (inside and out), fantastic interior volume, drives great and has more off road capability which gives it a win in my book. It's a mid size EV with mid pack efficiency...all good. Go Rivian!

Why do some people spend so much time attacking or praising him? Was the video worth watching is all I want to know. Make your decision to watch or not.

I found the view from down under video quite interesting. His efficiency videos for the R2 I had the most issues with. He states how the R2 isn't efficient enough for a 2026 model going 80 mph, then compares it to other cars. There really isn't another box shaped SUV. You can't compare an egg Tesla to the R2 and the efficiency gets worse as the speed increases past 55 mph. To me it's like saying, "why can't I though a flat piece of paper as far as a balled up piece of paper. 2 different shapes. I get wanting efficiency, but he should be comparing it to similar vehicle shapes or stating as fact if its good for its size and shape and explain its something to expect with the shape. Kyle often comes across as complaining about it and making it seem like a Rivian engineer problem. You can't praise the shape of the vehicle and then slam it for not doing what the shape allows. You can't say Rivian lied or misled about efficiency using the EPA statement as comparison when Rivian doesn't make the EPA standards. This is my problem with Kyle. He knows about cars, but then seems to expect laws of physics to be broken and be disappointed when it doesn't. It give off a bad insinuation to others who may not understand aerodynamics and think Tesla does better engineering when Rivian and Tesla are making 2 different use cases for a car.

Not unexpected, but a bit disappointing. I know many live where charging is abundant and range anxiety isn't an issue. I wish that were true here, but much of my driving is not close to interstate charging and involves large elevation changes, inefficient surfaces (rocky dirt roads, snow-covered), and at times high winds and very cold temps; I'd bet the R2 range can easily be 40% less or more in the winter here.

I def won't be deciding until I see more ix3 range testing.

I get why it makes a certain amount of sense to compare R2 (or any other EV in the $45-60K price range) to MY as the latter has been the benchmark for reasonably affordable functionality. That's entirely different, however, from seriously cross-shopping two vehicles which, despite having similar price and general level of competence, have substantially different feature-by-feature strengths and weaknesses not to mention overall stylistic appeal. Sustained efficiency at 80mph does not even come close to making my list of things I need or even just very slightly want in a car.

Primarily because some watch on TV's or phones and Ad Blocker is much more seamless on PC's as a browser extension.

While I can setup pihole or other ad blocking built-in to firewalls such as Ubiquiti (which in either case has its own issues and requires knowledge which many don't have), the average person will find it easier to just pay the subscription.

The discussion surrounding efficiency is interesting. I've been driving EV's going on close to a decade and it has never been a concern. Early Model 3's back when supercharging was few and far between got under 200 miles of real world range and it was never an issue (and I drove all over the country).

I'm not saying manufacturers shouldn't try to improve efficiency, but Rivian is targeting those who seek certain attributes (more truck like appearance/functionality with the ability to adventure beyond paved roads) and in that case there are compromises that have to be made. Those interested in the R2 should be made aware of those compromises BUT that shouldn't be painted in a negative light. It was a design choice and one where many buyers will happily accept the trade-off to get the features they desire.
