Based on all of the pictures and the configuration page, it looks like they haven't brought over the halo wheels :(

Honestly, more updates than I was expecting given so much focus on the R2. Switch to 800v would have been a homerun, but these updates are nice. All in all, kudos to Rivian for keeping things competitive. I don’t think this will spike R1 sales or anything, but will definitely keep them steady IMO
800v pack is a huge change to do as part of a quicky refresh. I think that will come when there's a bigger overall re-design.

I think I'll wait for when they show the Gen 3 R1's.

Wow this is such a whelming update for 2027. Seems like they’re going to save the halos for a 28 model, or my hope, a real platform refresh when Georgia opens in 29. I want an R1T with a drop window in the back.
Is a drop window in an R1T even possible with the gear tunnel and the tonneau cover?

I think it's interesting you can't seem to configure with the 20" AT brights anymore, it's dark package or bust. I'm also not a big fan of the combined sound+vision package. I just have premium sound and i'm not a fan of the dynamic glass roof so i'm still glad i had the original. D/M AT with perf upgrade. I think the captain chairs are neat though. I'll probably look at new R1S whenever they release a Gen 3, but yeah pre-price hike for Gen 2 in hindsight seems like a really good deal.

On the R1T's: No Ocean Coast interior for Tri (Performance) or Quad. Bummer! (not that I'm ready to buy)

Slate Sky isn't bad, IMO, but would definitely prefer Ocean Coast personally.

I was hoping for more... Having teenagers, I don't have a use for captains chairs...it just makes my enormous SUV carry less people (and doesn't leave room for the dog to sit between the kids in her comfy bed).

I was hoping to hear that it was moving to the Gen3 tech stack... I'm surprised they didn't do that. 800v would be nice, but @VandalSibs is right, that would be a bigger upgrade... likely saving that for '28 when they do the Gen3 tech.

Nothing here to get me to upgrade from my current Tri R1S... I guess I'll just keep putting more miles on this one (and loving every drive!!)

hmmm... glad I got my unicorn 2026 Ocean Coast Tri with bench seats... Easier for sleeping in the car when camping than the captains chairs.
Yeah, there needs to be some sort of aftermarket gap filler between the seats when car camping. That's a significant space, guessing around 8 inches??

Those captain's chairs look very nice and I think it will increase sales. But for us the bench seat is preferred. Nobody has ever been in our third row. It's always folded flat and packed to gills on our road trips. The second row is for our 65lb lab and we use a sling. Filling that center gap would be very difficult to use a sling with Captain's chairs.

I was hoping they would at least update the ADAS to RAP1. Pretty un-compelling to me. I think R1 is going to struggle. OTOH probably good for resale since there is no difference between this one and our 2025.

Was hoping for R2 pack design and BMS transition. Can see rationale for not having this until architecture change though.

While I love the chairs, for me the bench option is only in black interior is tough.

If there was some sort of built in cargo divider that if you folded the third row down, would block the chair gap, this would be grand. This would also come into play with all seats down.

Finally captains chairs. Really, really makes the R1S the perfect car for us now.
Wish they had this option from the start. That could've prevented some sales to EV9, Ioniq9, Model X, EX90 etc.

For many families, 3rd row access and 3rd row unfold is the Achilles heel of the current R1S.

The gear pass through sounds very useful, although unclear from the pictures how the pass through works under the 3rd row?

Also, I'm glad they're still sparing some efforts towards R1 and it's not all in on R2.

“Adventure all season” makes way more sense than the pre-existing “all season” naming for R1’s Territory AT or “all terrain” for R2’s BFG Trail Terrain T/A+, since neither are truly AS or AT.

For those that are familiar, what else from the R2 didn't make it into this year's model besides halo wheels? (for the features that could easily be ported)
