Well yes as I stated it’s illegal, though so is speeding right? Many of us with Teslas and without have been doing this for many years without issue - it’s an option but as with anything people make their own choices. Sure helps with the heat! And to be clear it’s not put over the cameras.
The city where I live used to tell police to deprioritize noncritical violations like dark tint, but this year they decided to do a one-off mass tint check and issued tons of tickets.

NH inspections wouldn't pass your car if you had much tint on the front side windows or windshield. However, it looks like the state may have ended state inspections here (it may still be in court), so maybe it won't be an issue.

Right and to be clear we’re not discussing limo tint here, we’re talking transparent windshield tint. I don’t see some big sting operation out there looking for it, but hey anything’s possible! That’s where the do if you choose to part comes in. Now speeding, also illegal- I’ve seen speed traps but no tint traps. 😂

Tint violations can be handled as a correctable/fix-it violation, meaning you remove or correct the illegal tint and provide proof of correction. Here is California a fix-it ticket generally requires fixing the problem by the deadline and paying a $25 correction fee.
And the funny thing, the fact that your car is legal in the state where it is registered does not automatically exempt you from the equipment laws of the state you're driving through. Being legal in Arizona doesn't necessarily mean California will allow that tint while you're driving in California. You could potentially be cited and ordered to fix it. 😅

Unless you’re a repeat violator-

😁yeah, that also happens.
The thing is that something as simple as tint allows an officer to stop the car. One things leads to another, somebody looks drunk, or smells marihuana, or something else, or somebody plays an !d!ot and starts confrontation -- and simple tint ends up in arrestable offense.😅

Of course, I’m in CA quite often. But these are all what ifs scenarios. I think people have a vastly higher chance of getting a speeding ticket yet they still speed, go figure. The point is, if you want to lessen you AC load tint your windows in a way that is comfortable for you, period. If you’re reasonable Johnny law won’t be in hot pursuit 😛.
Wow, I’m waiting for the Reefer Madness clips to start posting next, crazy. 😂

I went with the lightest tint on my truck almost 4 years ago and love it. Ac loads are lower, no discernible difference at night, and no need to fuss with the !@#%^* window shade every stop.

When I get the R2, I’ll do the same

87.9 kWh battery x 3 mi/kWh = 264 miles of range. Checks out.

That tiny battery pack will always be the issue. 1C is 88 kW.
