I love my T (26’ Tri Max), and love having a truck (my wife won’t let go of the R1S and still need it for family trips/camping), but I’m also interested in the $50k differential with the LE R2. Anyone else considering swapping? 4400# tow covers my boats, and the S can do 7700# so could always use that if we ever pursued one of the fancy EV campers (~7000#). Hmm…

Why would I downgrade from my R1T for less space, less comfort, and less range?
Second row has more space though, right?

I don’t think I would ever do this, can’t imagine letting go of my truck, but curious if they’ll get any takers.

It's an odd question, IMHO. Would make more sense to possibly trade R1S to R2S. R1T is a pickup and has some unique features vs the S and vice versa. Not to mention the R2 is a bit smaller.

That's my plan. We don't need and can't really afford two vehicles and the R2 is a better fit for our needs and usage. I have a 22 R1T. We live in the city and the truck is a little too big for my daughters comfort driving. The R2 will get me where I need to go for the little off-roading I do... really just forestry roads. If I could afford two vehicles I'd keep the truck - it's been great.

I'm throwing the idea around. Love my T but don't really use the bed that much and I'm worried about the long term reliability of the R1s. R2 is simpler with less to go wrong wrong. I still have well over a year before the warranty is out so I'm in no rush, I'm gonna see if I have any more issues before making my decision. 3 service visits in 3 months last year, leaving me stranded in another state had me questioning keeping it, but *knock on wood* no issues since.

The only R2 vehicle I would trade my R1T for would be a R2T. I actually do truck stuff with Arty that a SUV would struggle to do.

There is no R2S. It's just R2. And there's no rule saying you can't trade a truck for a SUV or even a sedan? I mean if he feels he doesn't need a truck and smaller mid-sized SUV would suit his needs better... Why not? To me it's not odd.

What I wonder about is if Rivian would take int trade a used vehicle that is valued so close to cost of a new car. The trade-in is essentially sold to Rivian Financial's backer, Chase. Technically, Rivian doesn't get paid until Chase does. So until that happens, whenever it does, Rivian is out a new R2 and value of the trade-in. And if the Tri-Max is valued greater than cost of a R2, it would be even more bizarre if Rivian would essentially pay OP to take a new car.

nope, not interested in the R2. no need for an SUV. I use the R1T as a truck too often not to have something with a bed. I wouldn’t want to pull a utility trailer

Definitely my question as well. Probably won’t get an actual answer until June.

Personally, not in a million years, unless I received $120K along with the R2. (So I can buy an R1T with that $120K).

IMO, the R2 is good. But it’s not *that* great of a car. It’s just Rivian’s offering at a cheaper price point
We agree! ;)
