Hello my dudes!

Today we're launching something new -- the OpenSource EV Seat Back Attachment System. It replaces the NextGen Seat Back Tablet Mount with something way more versatile.

The idea is simple: one base that snaps onto the headrest hook on the back of either front seat, and a set of slide-on attachments you can swap without removing the base. No tools. No bolts. No adhesives. Install takes a few seconds.

This was designed by Todd Stansell, whose cup holder system many of you know well from this forum and Printables. We manufacture, sell, and warranty-support it here at OpenSourceEV in Pittsburgh, PA. It's printed in ASA on Bambu Labs equipment -- UV-resistant and rated to 300 degrees F.

Rivian R1T R1S NEW - OpenSource EV Seat Back Attachment System for R1S & R1T SEAT BACK

HOW IT WORKS

The base clip snaps onto the headrest hook. A 17mm ball mount is included with every kit. If you already have a compatible 17mm holder from our previous Seat Back Tablet Mount or any other standard 17mm setup, you're good to go with just the base.

Every attachment slides onto the base using the same rail mechanism. Going from a tablet holder to a cup holder takes seconds, and you never have to take the base off to swap.

PRICING & OPTIONS:
  • 17mm Ball Mount (included with base) -- $13.95
  • Tablet Holder (fits screens up to 11") -- +$10
  • MagSafe Phone Holder (LISEN 17mm offset -- works with MagSafe/Qi2 cases and included ring) -- +$10
  • Cup Holder -- Regular or Large (large fits 40oz water bottles and handled mugs) -- +$10
  • Large Hook (grocery bags, dry cleaning, purses, etc.) -- +$2
  • 12" Braided Charging Cable -- USB-C 60W or MFi-certified Lightning (great if the kids are on older iPads) -- +$5
A complete setup with a tablet mount, cup holder, a big hook, and a validated USB cable is ~$45, less than 1/3 of what Rivian charges for just a tablet holder.

COMPATIBILITY:
Fits all R1S and R1T model years, Gen 1 and Gen 2. Expected to fit R2 as well.

One thing I do want to point out that the designs for the attachment are all open source, like everything that we manufacture, so isn't any restrictions on what can be placed on it aside from something like weight or ergonomics. (this hook, FYI, has been tested to about 20lbs)

Additionally, I'm happy to talk to anyone who has a design, or potentially an idea, on additional items for this system. This design itself is something that was designed external that we're manufacturing, marketing, and offer warranty support on.
