Has anyone actually replaced a sensor or camera and had the system work successfully afterwards?

Well... After finishing repairs and playing musical chairs with the sensors when I still got the error, I finally broke out the multimeter. The cable harness was successfully repaired, however both eBay ultrasonic sensors I bought were duds. I compared them to two known good oem sensors. I was getting continuity between signal and what I'm assuming is power on the OEM sensors. On the eBay ones, it was open across all of the pins. Guess I'll have to be more scrutinizing when buying these things. 🫠

I've got a new update and probably the last one!


I received a new ultrasonic sensor. This time it was OEM with actual Rivian stamped part numbers. I tested it and it showed continuity like the other OEM ones do. Unfortunately, after installation, the system still does not work. My next step would be to check fuses. However, I can't decipher the fuse names found here and I'm not comfortable pulling random fuses on an always-on system. I don't think I'm going to keep banging my head against the wall on this one as the parking proximity alarms don't hold that much value to me.


But it's not all bad news, I did replace the camera and that system is working once again. I couldn't find the specific part number I needed. When I took the faceplate assembly off of the truck, I noticed that the actual camera itself (excluding the front bumper bracket) has the same housing, screw pattern, and connector as other cameras on the vehicle. So, I made a gamble and ordered a PT00002195. It fit like a charm and to my surprise, the cameras all work now. I do notice the color is slightly off and it's at a small tilt. It's barely noticeable to me, but maybe that's where the calibration is needed. Also, if you do this, be prepared to replace some tiny torx screws, or just be more careful than I was and not strip them. I'll post pictures of the original camera.


I want to share a few lessons for others who might follow down this path. The whole assembly under the light bar comes off and is surprisingly easy to remove. Use the procedures Riviot posted here and this post to find all of the mounting points. Basically, if you see an empty clip on nut plate, that's a screw to remove. There's three electrical connectors that need to be unplugged, two on the passenger side and one on the driver side. I think the procedures explained that but missed one of them. When reinstalling, screw in the bottom screws attaching the silver applique first, it's very difficult otherwise.

@gjman7 did you end up fixing the ultrasonic parking sensor issue? It looks like I have the same problem as you, and I've have gone through the same steps without any success. I’d greatly appreciate any advice or details on what ended up fixing it for you.
