This will be a very welcome and exciting update if it's half as good as it sounds. The update is waiting for me now, but my truck is still at the Service Center, so hopefully I'll get it installed tonight once I pick it up. Fingers crossed...
Best news ever! Now hopefully Rivian will continue to put the RAN network in all the right places, so we can all enjoy the best of both worlds. This really is GREAT news for all EV drivers and huge step forward to standardization.
Spot on and a bit disappointing if they don't switch to NACS. No real reason they can't build out the RAN network with NACS, which would make for a nice add-on, but something tells me Rivian isn't looking at this the correct way and it will end up being their achilles heal and huge deterrent...
Why would Tesla lock them out? Kind of stupid if you ask me. Tesla only benefits from everyone using the network. The only people that will screw this up would be Rivian and if they refuse to go down this road, it will be another nail in the coffin for them. Fingers crossed that they do it...
Sadly just got this warning and now my truck is stuck in low low mode and undrivable. Compressor sounds like it’s leaking and won’t hold pressure. Only had the truck back a F$&@ing week from the charging port issue. ?
The adaptor is the 48 AMP adapter. The Rivian tech (use to work for Tesla) actually checked out my charger, circuit, adapter, and the truck. The adapter was the issue. It is believed that the continuous swapping between the MY and the R1T may have worn on the connector causing more...
Sounds like Farley is whining and trying to put Rivian down. Sure it would be great for Rivian to go for a larger volume buyer, but they can't produced them fast enough for Amazon, so what's the point. Every single Amazon delivery van driver I talk to have nothing but praise the the Rivian...
Yes we do swap the adapter almost daily, so you are probably correct in your assessment. Pins looked good though, but were a bit tarnished. Also agree that the Rivian should have triggered some sort of safety prior to getting damaged, but Rivian isn't discussing that.
Yes, the tech inspected the adapter and the charger (he use to work for Tesla). Charger was fine, but the adaptor had a tarnished color to it and and the ohms doubled when adding the Lectron adapter showing the increased resistance.
The issue is that the Lectron adaptor damaged the charging port and cable assembly in the truck and because the port was damaged, it then damaged the SC charging cable when they had it plugged in at the shop. The SC concern was that it's like "herpies" in that it starts a chain of events and...
That is the same setup I'm using, so caution on it. My Tesla cable is never really warm, but the adaptor gets to around 148 degrees. Tesla Gen 3 wall chargers have a J1772 connector? Wasn't tracking that, but would be great if true!
The Tesla does have an adapter and this is would probably be the easiest, but not sure what the charging speeds would be. The Tesla WC will do 44 mph on the Model Y and with two EVs, we definitely need the best charging we can get. I'll definitely look into the Emporia. Thanks!
I have had my R1T for almost six months and have been charging it using my Tesla Wall Charger with a Lectron Adapter. Life has been great until a few weeks ago when I started to get charging errors and the truck wouldn't charge. My Rivian Service Center (Kansas City) have been working on my...
Dropped mine off today at Rivian Service. It's not the charger as I have tried two different adapters and on top of that it trips my mobile charger as well. With the mobile it even trips my GFI too. It seems to be an issue tied to the vehicle sleep as it only seems to happen in the evenings...
