Discount tire has a contract with rivian and has custom created pucks. You can read more about it in this thread- https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/tire-rotation-and-balancing-discount-tire-is-rivians-preferred-tire-shop-just-confirm-they-have-jack-pucks.14864/
I would hope so - would seem silly to take this out of the codebase then put it back in. You would think they would turn it on sooner tho if it was a server side feature flag.
They had Halloween mode last year, but then they removed it I guess? Why not just leave it on the car like tesla does?
This is a rhetorical question, just seems a bit weird to spend extra effort to remove then readd something?
If you were to do this, ideally this would be a server side feature...
I'd definitely reccomend it. When I asked the guy at discount tire why they didn't considering the psi is 80 for the at3/w he mentioned certain cars throw alarms if it's over oem. The rivian doesn't seem to do this today.
I am expecting to see 2.4 - 2.5 mi/kwh now that the pressure is bumped up ultimately. On the highways probably more like 2ish. Because colorado isn't flat it's hard to say ultimately until I do a roadtrip to chicago. This should mean though that we are getting around the estimated epa range...
Hah! So I bumped up my PSI to around 66 and I am seeing much better mileage.
Here's a couple of details about some drives I have done over the past couple of weeks (I have a bit heavier foot and live in CO)
& this was over the month of September (This doesn't include the increased tire...
I definitely have had rubbing as well, I'm keeping it just in normal ride height and that seemed to solve it for me. Most of the rubbing has come when I'm going fastish over bumps in the lower ride heights.
I was able to, I didn't mention it was for aftermarket rims, and just mentioned I bought 20s. They never asked if they were aftermarket either and had it done in 10 minutes.
No, that has to be done by Rivian still.
Better way to say the above is discount tire rebalanced the new wheels using a wheel balancer machine that was recently recalibrated.
For what it's worth, the ride feels better to me for 90% of it. The curbs and other things feel better and the truck itself feels more planted, that could just be mentally tho. The noise is better as well, but I definitely do see a decent hit to the range, however come winter - it'll be well...
I ended up going with the 115s, I am learning a ton through this process ultimately. Those were the ones discount tire had nearby and matched the vehicle in their system. Learning more every day!
