My daughter would often get car sick in our Forester on twisty roads; especially going to and from the condo in the mountains. It was so bad we always carry puke bags and peppermint gum for her. Rolling the windows down and having her look way out on the horizon helped too.
We have had our R1S...
Our dual motor large pack has a range of 348 when at 100% (244 at 70%).
If charged to 85% you should get 270-280 miles of range in the winter.
I would buy an ICE vehicle before ever buying a Tesla. And I really really hate ICE vehicles.
The first time driving an EV was the 3 hour trip from the service center to my house, in the rain, at night. It was not exactly a relaxing experience.
I pulled out of the SC, went less than one mile and immediately pulled into a gas station to collect myself.
However after 3 hours I was able...
We have ~11K miles on our Lg pack DM R1S.
We are 3 hours from nearest service center.
Only 2 minor issues so far. The cameras stopped working; but a simple reset fixed this. We also have the rear hatch click when opening.
At our 15,000 miles service I will have them fix the rear hatch. FWIW we...
Dont. Originally I didn’t plan on getting Connect+. But after using for a while it is worth it for our use case.
If it isn’t worth it for you; dont get it.
I do not think you are being argumentative, all good.
I would personally never drive that far in a single day, in any vehicle. Anything over 10-12 hours we spend the night on the way. (Probably fly but that is beside the point)
In my younger days I would do a 12 hour drive only stopping once...
Fingers crossed our 14kW solar is done this Fall and Rivian releases its bidirectional charger.
Then we will be “off the grid”.
FWIW I installed a solar system on my shed and charge the mowers battery after each use. So nice not driving to get cans of gas.
The R1S is an excellent commuter (grocery getter, soccer van, school bus) and do it all vehicle; the best yet IMO. I have had Wranglers, F350s etc; none match the R1S in versatility.
Is your generac powered by natural gas? If not then you should have a large tank of fuel to run it in emergency...
Over the life of our EV we have saved considerable time overall as we do 90% of our charging at home and arent required to waste 15-20 minutes every few days getting gas.
I would guess I have saved approximately 10 hours since January not getting gas.
If you can charge at home and are not...
Yes, unless you tow hundreds of miles per day.
Road trips (in the eastern US) are easy in an EV and I personally prefer it for road trips over our ICE suv.
We paid $0.50 at a Francis energy charging and it was we worth it to avoid using anything associated with musk.
Beside RAN fast charger the Francis was the nicest and easiest for us.
We are actively looking for another smaller EV (to replace our Outback).
Tesla will not be considered because of the CEO.
Multiple friends in my circle are looking at getting EVs for the first time; none are interested in Tesla because of the CEO.
Smart CEOs keep their opinions to...
We originally had El Cap on order with 21” wheels. Estimated delivery was Jan ‘25.
A midnight R1S with the black 22s was available to us in Dec of 23.
Although it does show more dirt than other colors; we are very happy we went with black. When clean it shines and has a hidden blue speckle...
I like idea; however at the time I think the money spent to developing and building a new model would not be a good use of resources.
Focus on the R2; then after Rivian is more stable maybe add another model in the high price market.
FWIW; for me the current size is perfect. However we only...
Thank you; great explanation.
Once we get to a campground we usually stay 2-3 days without moving the car. So lower amperage should be fine. I will probably get the other as well for emergency use.
