I loved it in stop and go traffic, it really shined there, but when it was not great it was REALLY not great and actually caused various degrees of panic and I think was genuinely unsafe at least 3 times.
I just finished driving my truck from the factory in Normal to my home near Portland over 2,200 highway miles over three days, and by far the biggest disappointment was the driver+ system. I'm going to share some thoughts, but would love to hear other people's opinions. As I said in the linked...
Hey all - sorry for going dark :) I was putting in long days and without a laptop charger (it went back with my wife) i didn't feel like trying to do updates on my phone.
I drove from Lexington NE over 70 into Salt Lake City on Wednesday. Then SLC to Portland yesterday.
2,292 miles

Anyone thought about using a WeBoost w/ the Rivian - specifically to boost the LTE reception the vehicle already has? Or I guess you could use it to boost your cell and hotspot your truck off your phone.
This will be a mess as i am
on my phone using voice to text.
I got to stop by the factory this morning before I headed out of town. They let me walk around a catwalk above the factory floor where I could see parts of the R1 line as well as parts of the Amazon EDV line. Very cool indeed.

Background:
I had told my guide half jokingly that I'd even fly to Normal and drive my truck back to Oregon if that was what it was going to take to get one into my driveway asap. He said, he'd look into it - and then told we could make it work. I
Day 0:
I picked up my R1T at the factory today...

Maybe if someone is new to regen braking, but if you do it correctly you just start slow down as you modulate speed - to the driver behind you it should look no differently than me slowing down by gently pressing down the brake to reduce speed.
If someone is new to regen braking and they just...
Oh sure, that make sense. Not sure why my brain couldn't compute that scenario.
ETA:
The only part that would deviate from what i was told is that under "documents" along with the check I have to enter the tracking number for the delivery. Maybe that's why I was confused.
Don't think that's possible. Might be an Oregon thing or a lie, but i was told they had to have proof of payment 24 hits before delivery which is a picture of the church and a tracking number for its delivery.
Update: When last we left our hero, he had been offered and accepted two trucks, only to have them both yanked out from under him. However, the guide texted back and said the 2nd truck was in fact available (LE LG FE Dark 20s Shield) and I could pick it up in Normal or they could ship it to...
there are no incentives in Oregon, but even if there were there shouldn't be any affect as it's being registered and titled in Oregon.
The mileage doesn't much matter - 2,000 miles is 2,000 miles regardless of when it happens.
