I asked and got some reply about how I'd have to pay double taxes if I picked up in IL - in the end, there is a truck at my local service center so that's fine. The road trip would be nice, but the guide also indicated their would be "homecoming" type events in Normal at some point (I suggested...
I'm <15 miles from the service center, so very close. But they are going to deliver it because they are in a temp location in Portland that can't accommodate customer pickups.
There was a truck on the lot matching your config - i know because the guide asked me if i wanted it. i said i would take the LG one and then when i reached back out a couple hours later he said it was spoken for.
Was that yours?
I am going through the 8 step process for a 5/23 delivery (out of town until 5/22). Got an email/text on 5/15, guide call 5/16, switched to FE because there was a truck on the lot here in Portland I could get if in switched. 8 step process unlocked a few hours after my call.
Pretty lucky...
8 steps unlocked. could have scheduled delivery for wed-friday this week but i am out of town. no slots open for next week at this point so i reached out to my guide on that. hoping we can do Monday the 23rd
8th step was immediately available the only step i have completed is uploading my license.
The component i think that really drives it is location. the thing that is a complete unknown is why the trucks are being shipped to which locations and what's the process for allocating them.
In the end i am not sure it's vehicle driven as the guide confirmed my order config and had i not...
My guide says that these are trucks people didn't get financing on or chose not to go through with the purchase.
Not sure if there was ever a PBA for these trucks, but sounds like they do get shipped before the formal purchase process is started.
I didn't have to pester. We reviewed my config, and he locked it. I signed the PBA with him on the phone. I mentioned that I had some flexibility and he reviewed the trucks that were at the local service center with me. All of this was done on the first call.
If I had to describe him, I'd say...
I think I'm overthinking the shield. I don't think I'm suddenly going to do any crazy off roading - certianly nothing more "extreme" than what I do in my 100% stock Crosstrek.
So seems like $2k that doesn't need to be spent - which can go towards Limestone paint!
PBA signed - looks like there are two trucks in Portland right now that I can choose from -
LG FE 20AT w/ shield
Limestone FE 20AT w/o shield
I am leaning towards LG because I think I want that shield - In any case, if the tucks are still available I can take delivery on Monday (I get home...
I see folks saying that they wanted room to mount showers and traction boards next to the tent.
My solution to this is a second set of crossbars on the roof to hold a shower, awning, and basket (to hold) whatever. Am I missing something - are there disadvantages aside from the $525 for the rails?
the one time I went by (Mid march) there were 8 or 9 in the lot, 2 or 3 inside and a hauler had pulled up with 2 or 3 more - but that was right during all that end of quarter madness.
I don't think the lot has been empty that entire time as they were delivering trucks to Bend this week out of Portland (I posted a tweet from the local delivery specialist showing off a Black on Black R1T). So, they are still moving trucks through there - but I don't think it's like it was at...
For me it's not about would it do "good" or not (compared to other vehicles) - I was more wondering how good would it do (if that makes sense). Like give it to someone who can really drive, and get their impressions. I 100% don't expect them to say "oh this blows away any porsche I've ever...
