  1. Cincinnati L3 Charging Desert - WTF?

Same, I've made the run from Philly to Cincy a bunch of times. That stretch from Wheeling to Columbus, I always topped off at the last Tesla SC on the WV side. I tried the Flying J's/GM Energy along 70 twice. Not sure I'll rely on them again. The one near Morristown would never initialize...
  2. Cincinnati L3 Charging Desert - WTF?

Augusta isn't exactly CIncy. Looks pretty rural. Your best bet looks to be finding a friendly local L1 or L2 plug. If you don't know of it, Jungle Jims is pretty cool!
  3. Residual value is too high but want to buy

You plan on trying to keep track of the one you give back and later purchase it somewhere else? Not sure how you would accomplish it other than paying for a Carfax subscription to follow the VIN and hope your timing is right.
  4. New to forums and Rivian - want to discuss my pre-purchase concerns

Given all your hang ups and that you already got yourself through it enough to buy one GM EV, go buy the Silverado. It's the one with better range (seems like thats the highest requirement anyhow) and you'll only be arguing with yourself on the security part.
  5. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Fair point. Somehow the Scandinavians manage but probably due to great charger infrastructure and shorter distances. My buddy has a Hummer with the double pack. Gets insane range on that thing.
  6. Am I the only one who thinks anything less than 400mi of range is legacy at this point?

Where do guys come up with this stuff? I am on my 2nd R1 in the northeast and even this winter with many days in the teens, running between NJ-PA-VA I can consistently get 200-225 miles on a large pack with AT tires (rated for 289) and some buffer to spare. Yes, on loooong road trips, like 5...
  7. New to forums and Rivian - want to discuss my pre-purchase concerns

OP, use AI? After that rant?? :CWL: That was a good one. nah, he's right on type.
  8. How long do you plan to keep your current Rivian?

My Gen 2 has been great and plan to keep it least 5-7yrs or when battery and electrical technology advance enough to be a significant change, not an incremental one. So, Gen 4 maybe? I also had a res on a Scout but starting to wonder if it even makes it to market.
  9. Will the R2 have a lithium 12v battery (re: R1 12v failures)

For the 3rd bullet the issue was more of a bad bracket, cracked cases than electrical.
  10. Finally got my R1S

Congrats! I was there today and the parking lot was full, full, full. They said it’s a lot new deliveries. Great color combo! That booming sound, I noticed something similar going from my T to an S. I chalked it up as a combo of 22” tires, open cabin and otherwise quiet vehicle where you hear...
  11. You've Owned An EV For A While Now. How Have Your Charging Habits Changed?

The first 6 mos I obsessed about perfect charging practices and plotted every route with targeted charging stops, etc. Now, I don’t even think about It. I charge 40-70% at home and max 85% on road trips with DCFC. I don’t even plot routes very much and just leave it to the car to tell me. For...
  12. 2026 R1S deposit made. Reliability feedback?

The forums are a good place to get a feel for what *could go wrong but doesn't mean it will. There's an ex-SC employee on Reddit who says most (if any) build issues will show up quickly. If you get through the first few K miles, you'll be fine. I saw a big improvement in initial build quality...
  13. Rivian Apple Watch app is officially here! ⌚️

Manual workaround - go into the Wallet and Apple Pay section on your watch settings (in the watch settings on your phone, not in the main phone Wallet settings) - If you have a digital key on your phone, you can add it to your watch there. It will be under "other cards on your Phone" I'm...
  14. The best and worst vehicle to move with. [RANDOM RANT]

Every time I see these plates, the Simpsons intro song comes in my head.
  15. Would you pay $495 for your frunk? Mach-E buyers will have to

It's a slippery slope and the problem with connected cars - letting Ford have this kind of data. It's another thing anti EV crowd will pick up on. What's the threshold for not enough? How many ICE Trunks go unused to Ford's liking?? *** edit answered my own question, they killed all the cars...
  16. 2026.03 Update Pushed! Now Installing

I'm just here to say my install went fine. In fact UWB seems to be working better via Apple Watch than my phone (17 Pro). It's like instant every time. Great job Rivian!
  17. King of Prussia Grand Opening Details (Feb 20-21)

The RANs are good as well but idle fees keep me from spending too much time in the mall when using them. The L2's are new, at street level of the garage (don't go up the ramps) - not sure if they are open for public or not. If they aren't meant for public but work, keep them off Plugshare! :p
  18. Demo Drive : Tri R1S, Quad R1T, Dual R1T : Very different ride/handling, trying to understand

If rims/tires were the same, most owners will say the T rides better than the S due to longer wheelbase. If tires weren't the same, this whole comparison gets thrown out. Also for the DM Perf vs Quad, one motor per wheel vs one per axle (so to speak). If you have the chance to drive again, put...
  19. Is the performance upgrade a software upgrade ?

My understanding is that the reason they made Sport mode available to all now is to enable full time AWD in normal suspension (vs low) without having to use Snow mode or reduced stability. And for that, it works great. I had a DM Gen 1 and I really only wanted the Perf unlock for sand &...
  20. King of Prussia Grand Opening Details (Feb 20-21)

I stopped by Friday night. Great looking space! Major difference in vibe than the Tesla store. More like an Apple Store or Porsche across the hall. Premium trim cars were nice to see. Seeing a T makes me want one again! They have a couple of demo S's out by the garage (including a Tri) and...
