  1. v-Lockers. Let's poke a dead horse.

To discern a motor revolution they still need sensors in the motor; 30 degrees is a lot, so hopefully they have more poles inside. AFAIK, you would need the feedback from the sensors to discern how fast to rotate the wheel; if you apply too much torque it is going to spin; ergo you can't do the...
  2. v-Lockers. Let's poke a dead horse.

I wonder if they could add more ā€˜poles’ to the wheel speed sensors to get better resolution on when a wheel is slipping? I haven’t seen details on the current implementation. edit: eg if they only have 4 poles, the wheel needs to rotate as much as 90 degrees to provide the next input to the...
  3. Out Of Spec Max Pack vs Large Pack testing

Ah did not realize that. I think my argument for the Leaf stands though - same physical sized battery, massive density increase from when it was first released.
  4. Out Of Spec Max Pack vs Large Pack testing

what do you base this off? Sure the 90 pack had higher degradation than the 85 for Tesla, but I haven’t heard that about the 100. Similarly for the Leaf, the same 24 pack had much different degradation between the 2011 and 2013 models; they then supposedly regressed on the 30 pack (as compared...
  5. Charge port door button still doesn’t work in the cold

This happened to mine a month ago; nothing i did with the exterior button worked. Touchscreen inside did, but that can be a pain. They were already scheduled to replace my 12v so I asked them to check the button. They replaced a capacitive button under the trim and it’s worked since. Hasn’t been...
  6. Regeneration Concerns

Thanks for the link to that other thread - excellent info @jwardell dug up and posted over there and in his videos, particularly the second one from 50% (link). I don't have his technical expertise so can't contribute anything, but did want to say that based on all of my observations over the...
  7. Regeneration Concerns

Tesla doesn't actually blend the brake pedal with regen. They did add a mode where one-pedal driving works more consistently and the car applies friction brakes for you (which appears to be coming in the next OTA). My Leaf actually blended the brake pedal with regen; it wasn't always the...
  8. Tailgate pad clearance with new tonneau

Conversely my WeatherTech does not play nice with my RaceFace pad :(
  9. Interesting comparison & analysis video of R1T, Cybertruck and Lightning on same hill climb

There were wireless retrofit options several years ago that didn’t need something that bulky. But maybe.
  10. Rivian can ford through 1.09m of water. Cybertruck 0.76m

Wow I was just about to post asking what happened to boat mode... I guess it's still on?!
  11. Rivian can ford through 1.09m of water. Cybertruck 0.76m

That's a hell of a skip! I bet my wife (on our honeymoon on Maligne Lake) I could skip a rock 15 times and if I won (so far I'd been hitting high single digits), I could buy a macro lens for my camera I had been eyeing up. She gave me 3 tries and it took 1! I still have that 100mm macro lens...
  12. Cross bars shake and rattle

Yeah mine was so tight I couldn't even do that, plus I thought that might be TOO tight for the mechanism, so I adjusted it as described in my video I linked above.
  13. Service 12v battery system notification message

Just had a thought - I was reading about the Camp Speaker in the manual and it notes that the "pogo" connection (I take that to mean the truck dock) is at 12V DC... anyone know if the speaker is tapped into live pins to the 12V system? IIRC, Rivian does say not to jam anything in the dock that...
  14. New build of 2023.46.0?!

That would be cool! Not sure I want to guinea pig though lol.
  15. New build of 2023.46.0?!

Bah hahahaha! I enjoyed that thread. The Twitter version was a bit... do some of those people engage their grey matter before posting?!
  16. New build of 2023.46.0?!

Got home tonight from my commute and the truck notified me it wanted to do a software update... from 2023.46.0 to 2023.46.0?! Current build is 531c7711 and new one is acc6f865. I didn't read all of the release notes but expect they are the same. Anyone else have apparently the same version of...
  17. Interesting comparison & analysis video of R1T, Cybertruck and Lightning on same hill climb

We don't know actual clearance that is usable when driving. They just keep touting 17" extract mode. My bet is something closer to Rivian clearance usable. Agreed on the point on lockers for the Dual; maybe for the Tri, depends how well they deal with traction on the independent motors at the...
  18. Cross bars shake and rattle

You likely need to adjust the mechanism on the bars; I had to do that to one of mine. There is a rubber foot that comes off exposing a set of hex-head screws. Adjust slowly! I did mine in 1/8 turn increments, both the same amount, counter-clockwise - I couldn't get the second click at first, but...
  19. LinerX All Weather Mats R1S/R1T

I like mine too. Only thing I'd prefer is to have the back seat one split 50/50 in some fashion to make it easier to get the mat out without dumping its contents on the ground. But if you have a shop-vac you can get most of it off before-hand (I don't have one at home).
  20. Interesting, just published Rolling Stone article about the Tesla Cybertruck...

As far as I can tell it is 100lbs lighter than an R1T... file that under "who cares".
