Not abnormal for any brand to disable video recording when in service. However on a traditional dash cam, it’s usually pretty apparent it’s been unplugged when the cable is hanging down in your face. On the built in camera system, not so much. I do think it’s a miss to not revert all settings...
Also just as an aside, I’m comparing 20s and 22s. I’d hazard a guess that they’re probably not materially different in “eco friendliness”, but if we were to nitpick it seems like universally the 20 ATs last for less miles, and rivian specifies that they also get worse range (5-10% worse) than...
Haha. I agree - not any attempt to be “sporty”. But maybe the better phrase is “less floaty” in both ride quality and in the steering wheel. It does make a difference in confidence and experience even when driving normally.
Yeah that’s about where I’m at. I don’t like the look of AS tires on the 20s so that’s where the 22s come in. I would absolutely keep the 20s as 1 - they are original for the car and 2 - for off road fun.
Looking for real world feedback on the difference between the 20 ATs and 22 sport wheels on an R1S, specifically:
- Noise
- Ride quality
- Tire wear
For context, we have the 20 ATs on our R1S and as the tires age (now at 18k miles) the hum is becoming intolerable. I understand the differences...
Yeah I’m debating ditching the 20’s (or sidelining them for future off road use) altogether and picking up some 22’s. Good look with better noise reduction. Maybe 21s just not as keen on those with the lack of tire options and looks.
While I wholeheartedly agree they need to have a better (read: any) escalation path, I’m not sure the hill to die on about it is being Karen Jr and asking for price concessions they’re not obligated to give you.
Service issues? Yeah. Delivery issues? Yeah. Entitled to save 1/2 cost for no...
I generally agree. For example, 6-8 months ago RJ was telling MKBHD they want to control the systems thereby controlling the experience (with an obvious intent to make it a positive experience). However, they only JUST introduced the ability to send feedback about navigation mistakes in the...
We have both an R1S and a Taycan 4S Cross Turismo…I much prefer the Porsche. Not even a question. And the Rivian was originally meant for me. ?
The range isn’t a problem for our personal use, and unlike Tesla you get every mile quoted.
What are you talking about? My Rivian has a soul! It even has attitude and decides to stop working on occasion and require a ton of service center visits. You tell me that’s not character from a soul! /s
Yep. I’ve literally had to turn around to drive back to discuss something because it was easier after trying to get the call center to transfer me to the SC. Seems like a busted system.
I really generally appreciate working with the folks at the local service center (shoutout to the Austin service center), but man the corporate call center could go away and the experience would be 100x better…even if they didn’t even staff extra help at the local SC (ok don’t do that Rivian...
Yep happens to us too. Both at home and away from home. Quite annoying. I raised it with the service center and they cleared the cache (which was really a full reset?) of the infotainment and it didn’t change.
Are you looking for a one time clean, or ongoing maintenance? Soap and water with the rest of the car should be sufficient, as long as yours isn’t beat up already. If it is, the only true recourse is to polish it.
