  1. Rivian headlights at night in snowstorm = zero visibility

Sorry to hear people are still being put in dangerous situations by this. I installed fog lights on the grill for this reason. Plan is to use them and turn the Rivian lights down to "running lights" if necessary. It seems to me that the rear light brightness stays the same, although I actually...
  2. Rivian CFO: R2 production starts first half 2026; sourcing 95% complete; global sales (3/5/25 video)

Translation: video recordings of you, your home, your garage interior, and your children is regularly uploaded and stored by Rivian for their systems and employees to access at will…
  3. Colorado Checking In

Good to hear. I've been running the Hakka R5s and no really tough tests for them yet, but only good things to report on a few trials of snow and ice.
  4. Colorado Checking In

I have a gen 1 quad large, so I'm extrapolating from that. Thoughts * $230/month is a lot of money if it's not helping you, but... * My really rough rule of thumb is for every 1,000 feet of net elevation gain, add 10 miles of range required. Steamboat is about 2,000 feet higher than Denver, so...
  5. Will R2 launch lower R1S resale value / market?

Don't forget R2 will have a sizable frunk plus rear under-floor storage as well.
  6. The Rivian I Want: A No-Nonsense, Modular, Adventure-Ready EV Truck

The Rivian You Got: a lot of nonsense. Not modular. Pretty darn adventure ready though. What I would add to your list: * keys that work * a power button so you can turn the vehicle on or off * vampire drain of fewer than multiple kWh per day * repairable with manual published. for example, it...
  7. Range to zero

If you drive slower than 60mph you can extend the range a lot. Not my first choice but if you are down to the wire...
  8. Full Size Spare Tire....am I missing something?

I am confused. Is this right? You bought a spare 20". You got a wheel and tire, but nothing else. You are wondering if you were supposed to get a jack and other stuff with it.
  9. Post some of your road cam footages

    Last summer, posted this elsewhere.
  10. Looking to trade Model Y LR for R1S

No, you can't have my R1S even for 3 model y's. Was that the question? Regarding range: Gen 1 R1S on 20" AT tires. I expect at least the rated range (270 miles) at 75mph or so. I'm at altitude which helps range a little. Other tires will be much more efficient. At 60mph I would expect over 300...
  11. Pirelli 21’s in Snow Mode

I would just encourage everyone to watch this video and read the rest of the thread if you have time. It's not that steep and a number of similar stories. Note the front tires roll and rear tires slide, only the rear have a parking brake as mentioned above. I'm a big fan of snow tires, but...
  12. 20" Inch What are your top 3 priorities for replacement tires?

Offroad performance (could break down into many subcategories) Onroad performance, handling, etc Noise Wet grip Snow and cold weather performance
  13. Official: Scout EV SUV & Pickup debut w/ Gas Range Extender EREV, 4x4, BOF, Lockers, Sway Bar Disconnect -- All Specs, Wallpapers, Videos

Is there no frunk at all? I'd much rather have a frunk than EREV. No gear tunnel either.
  14. Did Rivian Drop Tri Motor Range?

Yep, the EPA tests are notoriously based on much lower speeds than a normal highway which is what I meant. https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml
  15. Did Rivian Drop Tri Motor Range?

The estimates are based around low speed driving. I'm sure any Rivian can hit its advertised range at 40-50mph. But they aren't highway figures. I am sure the Tri Max has better range than the quad. Lower numbers could be explained by colder weather or just Rivian changing the formula for the...
  16. cold weather driving range

Was there an elevation difference? How fast were you driving?
  17. R1S Frunk: Costco snow shovel fits

I often wish the R1S had a gear tunnel, but most of all in winter.
  18. Ideal Gen1 Preowned

I would say that the individual vehicle's history is more important than its build date. Is it a borderline lemon that was in and out of the service center every couple months, or has it made it 10k-20k miles with no mechanical issues? If so, it's a winner. I feel real lucky with our April-ish...
