  1. Next Batch of NACS Adapters Shipping to Rivian Owners!

This. Not only are you liable for the vehicle but also any damage to the charger as well. Until there's a released standard out there that covers me in the event something bad happens, it isn't worth the risk to me. As nice as it would be to roadtrip the Rivian, I have a gas car that can...
  2. Next Batch of NACS Adapters Shipping to Rivian Owners!

There's probably something in the deal with Tesla that prevents this from happening. Not to mention that, even if they were to approve it, it's unlikely that A2Z or anyone could instantly meet the demand any faster.
  3. Launch mode coming to Gen 1 trucks?

My guess is that we get launch mode in the gen 1 trucks. Like others have said, it's just software and drama. While you obviously won't get the faster time, you would get all the fun animations and stuff that go along with it. What I'm hoping for is the ability to get the tire setup from the...
  4. PSA about using Discount Tire - watch them like a hawk

No issues with DT here in MN either. I scheduled a rotation and went in. They started setting things up and realized their jack pucks were damaged and needed a new set, didn't want to damage the vehicle so they rescheduled for a few days later when they got replacement parts and got the job...
  5. New Pics -- R1 Refresh Light Bar / Headlights / Frunk / Interior Lighting Themes!

There's one manufacturer out there, I think BMW or Benz, that turns the door color red if the door is open to help people know they didn't latch the door. Would be a cool use for the interior lighting.
  6. R1S was #4 best selling EV in Q1 2024! Let’s gooo!

R1T doesn't have as much of a market as the R1S does. It's also an adventure truck that doesn't really have any competition in the price bracket. The Tacoma, Colorado, etc are about the same size but cheaper (though that gap is narrowing fast lol) while the F150 is a full size truck with a big...
  7. RJ interview on CNBC - May 8, 2024

I don't think Apple has any interest in anything more than a partnership with Rivian for a number of things. Could be things like software integration into the Apple ecosystem all the way to helping Apple with expanding further into the automotive space like Google has. They may invest, they...
  8. Tesla Cybertruck vs Rivian R1T: Off-Road Drag Race!

It's tire limited, not motor limited. The truck is still pulling like a train up to the limiter. What we need is for tire manufacturers to make one with a higher speed rating, good grip at speed, low rolling resistance, 3PM rated, and ability to carry the weight. :) Small ask right?
  9. Out of Spec seemingly confirms R1 refresh in about a month

I went to a Tesla center (it's in my town) that had a demo unit to see just to check it out, then saw two at a car show, and lastly a friend got one and gave me a ride.
  10. Out of Spec seemingly confirms R1 refresh in about a month

So...you want a better built truck and are looking at a Tesla??? The few cybertrucks I've seen and been in person all have horribly misaligned doors, hoods, panels, etc and the interiors are the creaky/squeaky standard issue Tesla ones that look like they belong in a Corolla. The interior in...
  11. What are the legal and financial issues involved with using non-approved adapter and it causes damage?

The difference here is that USB-C is an accepted standard that you can meet. There's no standard at this point for NACS to CCS adapters.
  12. “Google-backed EV charging startup Gravity opens fastest public chargers in the US”

The analogy I use is as follows: Imagine you're filling up a cup of water but if it overflows, it explodes in your hand. You'll turn the faucet on wide open while the cup is fairly empty but have to slow it down as it fills up to make sure it doesn't overflow and explode.
  13. What are the legal and financial issues involved with using non-approved adapter and it causes damage?

I'm not going to fuck around and find out what the legal implications are. Not worth the headache and worry for me. Happy to wait for the real thing just like I did with the truck. Other people have vastly different risk acceptance levels than I do though so go nuts.
  14. Tesla Supercharging (NACS Charging) Now Available in Rivian App! Step By Step Instructions

I have no desire to FAaFO with a third party adapter and potentially bricking my truck with no warranty recourse unless the seller of the adapter is going to warrant that instead. Kudos to those who want to guinea pig this one. I'm not sure what the point of going through a big reveal in the...
  15. Ocean Coast Steering Wheel

Because it still costs money to design, make, inspect, inventory, and manage different parts. I agree that the OC airbag doesn't look great and it would look better with the black. Same for the headliner and upper trim pieces. Just the white seats would look way better and I probably would...
  16. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

I think this is getting more and more common, even at the resorts up there.
  17. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

Many of the state parks up there have L2 chargers you can plug into for free while you're out and about. I've yet to have one broken and I've also yet to not find an open one up there. Last time I went all 3 chargers had Rivians (mine was one of them) plugged in lol.
  18. If you could pull the trigger on an R3 / R3X today….

0.) Yes, I'd buy one (R3X) tomorrow given the specs are decent 1.) Either the R1T or my Shelby Mustang. Swap R1T for R3X and swap Mustang for Gladiator PHEV 2.) I'm always plotting so who knows what will happen. I tend to swap out "fun" cars every 3 years, Mustang is on year 2 right now.
  19. Letter to Rivian: Please Open R3/R3X Reservations

I'll put down a deposit for a R3X right now if given the opportunity. I have no reason to reserve a R2, my R1T is just fine.
