The 1UP weighs more, so it's slower to get on and off, but more importantly, the arms take some time to move into place; they have a movement speed limit. Adjusting the height of the Kuat arms to pressure my tires is also faster; I have a large variety of bike sizes and I'd either have to move...
This isn’t as much of an achievement as it sounds. The more of a part you buy from a supplier, cumulatively, the cheaper the part gets. This is simply because the supplier has recouped their setup costs. So to cut COGS all you need to do is wait until you have sold X number of units. Apparently...
To me, the Rivian bed is just 6” shy of being truly useful. I think Rivian would sell more trucks by lengthening the R1T a bit. That leaves space for a few more battery modules, too.
Thoughts?
When will Trump undo yue regulations that are driving manufacturers to produce EVs? The credit market will soon dry up and EV programs will be abandoned left and right. Government mandates are required to drive EV adoption. An ICE still gets you from point A to point B. EV’s are not a...
I’m glad Rivian has a gross profit even if they still posted a net loss.
The elephant in the room is the disappointing guidance. R1 sales are flat and everyone is praying that the R2 is somehow going to save the day, despite it looking like a claustrophobic matchbox version of the R1. People...
Snow mode is an ass covering hack. When you drive a Rivian in the snow, you don’t have antilock brakes. Let me repeat that: there is no antilock brake capability with regen. Rivian has taken us back to the 1980s in this respect.
Did they talk about the pollution credits Rivian sells to competitors to stall their EV programs, and negate any environmental benefit to buying one of their vehicles?
Rivian was originally what you wanted. However, the damn batteries cost so much that it had to be priced as a luxury car and sold to rich geeks. That's why you have this weird dichotomy where it's half a premium luxury car and half a noisy no frills bro-mobile. Take the HVAC and suspensions, for...
You're right, this is a distinct possibility. While I think Rivian 12Vs can fail generally due to bad design bleeding them out, in my case the A/C charger died and took the 12V with it. So a charge/jump is not always sufficient to solve a Rivian 12V failure.
And of course, an electric vehicle...
That wasn't true in my case. My car was dead in my driveway, and they came out within an hour (which was amazing). However, it was blocking two of my other cars, which did make it pretty damn annoying. The scrapes that the tow process left on my driveway... oww.
After the victim blaming and overall shit treatment that the OP received, I wouldn't come back either. There are a few architypes on these forums:
A) the fanatics
B) the casual lurkers that only come out when they have a story to tell (sometimes bad). They're not Rivian experts, likely they...
R3X seats loon awesome. The outside still looks like a spectacled reindeer: a hard no from me.
The R2 is super small and looks like a clown car when a tall person stands next to it. I wonder if they hire only short Rivian employees to show it off. I predict women won’t like it because it’s not...
I'm sorry to hear about the bricking. Rivian has had seven years to solve this issue and still hasn't been able to do so. They stubbornly refuse to recall all vehicles.
I have a similar level of pain with Rivian vehicles and empathize strongly. Thank you for posting. Hopefully someone at Rivian is taking note (though I doubt it).
Ignore @Donald Stanfield; he's some kind of party apparatchik that deals only in propaganda.
Yes, totally. This forum is incredibly biased. Baseless attacks on Consumer Reports and other experts happen regularly because of a) the hopium of the weak-minded and b) massive losses in Rivian stock which the true believers want to recoup. It's like a mini Tesla meme stock thing. Then it gets...
I’m hitting this now, too. So far I’ve had this truck for only 8 months and this is the fourth major issue. First, a failing drive unit (replaced), then a latch failure in the tailgate, then a failed charger which bricked the vehicle (the tow truck skid marks are still on my permeable pavers)...
Farley is correct and it's a shame hydrogen isn't available outside of California.
Watch the Scout and Ramcharger EREV eat Rivian's lunch once they are released. The urban truck market is very small.
