  1. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

Rivian has a huge problem with "that's normal" being used in place of "that's acceptable". They've told me multiple times that the suspension clunks in my truck are "normal", but that doesn't mean I think it's acceptable. They seem to use the terms interchangeably.

Source for median mileage? I'm using this: https://www.consumershield.com/articles/average-miles-driven-per-year 12V is effing awful when it fails. It's not like you just can't start and drive. You can't access the interior, and if you can access the interior, you can't access the center...
  3. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

Average is closer to 14k nowadays. I drive around 19-21k. I would hardly call that a lot. 35-50% more than average. I disagree on the fruit comparison. I'm currently changing 12V batteries in my Rivian just slightly less often than I would've changed my oil in the Q7. 3x in 30k miles. If I...

How do you get in the Frunk if the 12V dies?
  5. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

$150 4x/yr = $600/yr. My Q7 was $225/change at the dealer. About $120/change in my garage. Super easy to hit $700/yr in just oil changes.
  6. Trading in cars with Rivian is it worth it?

The whole buying process is hot garbage IMO. It's largely under communicated, and a general PIA. Sure I don't have to deal with a scummy salesperson and the whole "let me check with my manager" BS; however that is replaced with days of email/text/phone back and forth. Non-refundable deposits to...
  7. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

I'm not who you quoted, but........I owned a '17 Q7. Changed the oil 4 times a year on average. Every 5k miles-ish. About $120/change doing it in the garage. So about $500/yr. $700/yr is completely plausible if you payed the dealership to do the work. I do agree though, an oil change missed...
  8. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

I can't, I've tried..... although, IMO and EREV might as well be a cancel. All the complexity of two drivelines with little real world application aside from a market that's more niche than the EV pickup already is.
  9. Someone, talk me out of dumping my R1T

I'm leaving Rivian at the end of my lease. Big complaints with Rivian being PaaK, Virtual Vents, clunky awful suspension, and a few other asinine design features. I already know I'll miss the gear tunnel, and user interface, but they aren't strong enough draws to deal with Rivians crap daily...
  10. I have questions if any one has answers (potential R1T buyer)

2024 Gen1 Dual Motor (non-performance) R1T here. large pack (131kWh), All terrain package with 20in AT's No. A software defined vehicle is just not for me. Also, service has been a revolving door for me. I think I got a bad one, but it's nearly spoiled me on the brand all around. Love the...

You should check out SuperFastMatt as well. Very automotive centric and he doesn't take himself too seriously or over produce. https://www.youtube.com/@SuperfastMatt

In todays episode of "Why did I buy this stupid thing"....... Wife had a screw in her tire. Plugged it, and used the air compressor to add air back to it. When to stow the hose in the under bead storage because I wasn't in the mood to "refold it" in 20deg weather, and guess what. Handle...

I run about 245 on the scale at 6'2" tall without apparal. With anything more than flip flops and swim trunks as attire I'm easily over the 250lb rating. Especially in the winter with size 13 boots, coveralls, heavy coat, and 10lbs of crap in my pockets at any given moment. Considering the...

They stick out to the side when the tailgate is down. So you only have to raise your foot to knee height instead of hip height. Also let you put one hand on the back corner of the bed (usually in a stake pocket), and one foot on the bumper and "pull" yourself up. Then step around the tailgate...

Didn't even realize it was a wrap. That does look nice!

I will miss the frunk and gear tunnel when I move on. Those are game changing features, and aside from the gear tunnel doors not popping open by themselves, generally implemented well. Guess dead hookers are gonna have to go in the bed. At least I won't have to fold them up anymore.

Great steps unless you're over the weight limit. Like I am. Unless I'm naked, and I'm pretty sure that's not good for anyone except me.

Jesus Christ.....AM I really this old? Step Bumper looks like this. Note this particular one is for a '72 model. here's a bumper from 1960. Know what you can do? Step on it! Here's one from a '16 F150......Guess what. You can step on this one too! Rivian removed the bumper and added what...
  19. Motorcycle Hauling Trip with R1T -- Good news for the bike folks!

Appreciate the detailed answer there. Quite reassuring to hear. Thank you!

Super glad you like it. I'm pretty clearly in the minority here. Most owners seem to love their trucks. Maybe I got a bad example? Maybe I'm an old curmudgeon of an owner? Maybe my expectations are too high? Who knows why. I can only state where I'm at, and this has been, without a doubt, the...
