8-ish years ago, automotive application lidar was $800 per sensor with Tesla testing two coffee can size units, one of each side mirror. Not sure what Mercedes is buying, but Honda/Sony's upcoming Afeela car is doing two tuna can size units at a rumoured sub $200 a piece.
