Apparently the BMW iX3 will support V2H.

Has Rivian said anything about V2H for the R2?
The 2026 Subaru Solterra AWD is also under $40K and greatly improved. Very similar to the Toyota bz and about the same size as the R2. Not as premium though but less expensive.
I've seen some pretty crazy numbers on my speed limit like 55 MPH on a twisty mountain road where it's actually 25 and 95 on one section of freeway. It seems very optimistic!
There's no way EVs are going to disappear. We in the US are just way far behind in adoption. For example, in Norway over 95% of new car sales in 2025 were EV. There are a lot more headwinds here. Cheap (relatively) gas, lack of EV charging infrastructure, less choices, regulatory changes...
I've volunteered at some local EV events talking to people about EVs and showing my R1S. For many people there simply isn't enough range to offset the anxiety of driving an EV. There are many perceived obstacles, many of which have greatly improved, but still remain. Many have no idea where or...
I love the map update on the driver's screen but one thing really bugs me. I wish they could make the size of the left window dynamic so there's no wasted space. Either that or turn it off completely so I can see more of the map. When the music "mini-window" is displayed there's quite a bit...
At least they are being up front this time about what is coming down the road for the next gen R1 and R2. It will make it much easier to decide to buy now or wait. I think the rapid changes made to the R1 were quite a surprise to many R1 buyers and they don't want that to happen again.
I'm not a fan of self driving. I'm mainly interested in the Rivian Autonomy Processor. However, if self-driving is the only benefit of the RAP then I might not wait for RAP+LiDAR. The only other thought is Rivian might find some interesting applications for RAP or LiDAR that cannot be done...
So it appears that the first production batch of R2s will have gen 2 hardware and sensors. Later around the end of 2026 the gen 3 hardware (including LiDAR) will ship on all R2s and the gen 2 hardware R2 will be discontinued. There will not be an upgrade available to convert gen 2 to gen 3.
My...
I hope it's user installable and self calibrating. I hate to think about the 1000's of early R2 buyers who get an early R2 without the LiDAR module having to make an appointment to get the module installed when available.
