Of course it isn't, but it would open up possibilities. With a full charge at Gallup, one could drive up to Four Corners and back, or (I assume) to Chaco Canyon and back, or to southwestern Colorado (if staying somewhere you can recharge). Sure, it'd be nice to have DCFC chargers at all of these...
Let's play a game in which Rivian owners take this opportunity to learn what Driver+ is and is not.
Driver+ is the full suite of features including Driving Assist, Lane Safety, Light Safety, Parking & Reverse, and Collision Mitigation. Highway Assist is just one of the features (but I suspect it...
I think it probably switches to fresh air (in cooling mode) until the inside air is cooler than the outside air. The fastest way to cool an auto is to first exhaust the overheated air inside. If you wait a minute or two, it will probably switch back to recirculate without intervention from the...
Yes, you are right - you did show that in your video. I had seen the other video more recently, when someone questioned whether it would would scratch the vehicle.
In a YouTube video for CNick ring, he says that you don't have to touch the car with the ring, and he shows that he can hold his knuckle up to the car (so the ring is maybe a half inch away). He is doing this (in the video) on a Tesla, so it might be different on a Rivian...
Incorrect - a double down click activates "Highway Assist" (which is one of the many features of Driver+). Driver+ is always active. A single down click activates ACC, which is available most of the time (perhaps not when a trailer is attached). Highway Assist is only available on certain mapped...
I didn't. There was a line of people waiting to come down. I went with a group of ten or twelve Rivians (and one Jeep). So there was that group, plus assorted other vehicles that wanted to run it. The Broken Arrow Trail makes a loop in the last section, which includes the Staircase. Most people...
I've been off-roading (I have R1T 20" AT stock) with another guy who has an R1S with 22" stock tires (a couple of times). On one of those occasions, we did the Broken Arrow Trail in Sedona and came down the Devil's Staircase - his R1S performed just fine. If you plan to do a lot of off-roading...
Clear to whom? I can't claim to be an expert on automobile manufacturing or marketing, but it isn't clear to me... at least not any clearer than it was when I first heard the name, "Rivian." Starting a new car company is daunting. I have no crystal ball (even my windows are hazy).
Trying to rush out new car designs in too short a time could be catastrophic. Refine (and reduce manufacturing costs) on the current cars, while building the capability to produce the next cars, seems like the prudent move. Rivian had planned to produce the R2/R3 vehicles in Georgia; they have...
I came down it last summer in my R1T. Great trail. It's a lot rougher than it was when I was a kid. I remember going down it with my Dad several times (at least one of which was in a Mercury Comet).
You should be able to do it with road tires on your R1T. Sure, it's long and bumpy - just take it slow, and enjoy the scenery. Our local Rivian group did the Broken Arrow Trail and the Devil's Staircase, last fall - one of the group had 22" street tires, and he was just fine.
