  1. SOS - R1T bricked during aftermarket horn install (horn not at fault)

Honking the horn can be done at the same time as taking evasive action. Riding a motorcycle does not necessarily teach one to be safe. I see a lot of motorcycle riders who think they are immortal, or don't much care whether they live or die.

    A zebra with small pox.

    State 48 Rivians

I think that the State has plans for more DCFCs along I-10, but who knows how long that'll take. I sure hope they do (or someone does, soon) - I'd like to explore a bit in the SE corner of the state. I think there is about a 10% hit switching to the 20" AT tires - but that may not be true on...
  4. KO3 tires installed on 20" steel wheels rims

Probably won't "fall off." They might get bent or out of round. If you start having vibration issues - that's the place to look. A wheel and tire can be balanced, but if it is out of round, it'll still have vibration at higher speeds.
  5. Supercharging limitation - is this new?

The unintended consequence is it might encourage people to charge longer, to higher SOC, if there is a likelihood that they might approach the 5 charge limit.
  6. 548 R1T Registrations in March 2024? Really?

It's a nice looking unit, and without the crossbars is entirely within the slipstream of the cab. It also looks like it is designed to be strong enough to carry a tent or a substantial load of materials on the crossbars. How is the topper connected to the bed? I can't tell from the pictures -...
  7. 548 R1T Registrations in March 2024? Really?

His topper looked interesting - and he indicated that he was considering manufacturing them. I think I asked to be on his update list, but never heard anything back. I got the impression that he had back-burnered making them. The GoFast toppers look interesting, too. I think they are like $6k...
  8. all EV stock jumped +10%

Laugh all you want, but if there are no protective measures taken, US auto manufacturing will likely go the way of US television manufacturing. Whatever else I may think of Elon Musk, I suspect that he understands car manufacturing - especially EVs. Elon Musk: "If there are no trade barriers...
  9. 548 R1T Registrations in March 2024? Really?

GoFast has a topper (different from the camper model) coming out later this year. But as for what is available right now - I don't think there is anything. Unless that Wakeshield (actually kind of a cross between a topper and a tonneau) is being shipped now (cursory look at that link makes me...
  10. Flat tire. No spare.

I might have been interested in an R1S if Rivian had offered a version without the third row, allowing a full size spare and more storage.
  11. Flat tire. No spare.

It was a dark and stormy night...
  12. Hurricane evacuation - Rivian versus ICE truck

Easy solution to that: a shade that is reflective, opaque, and contains closed cell insulation. There is no reason to waste energy from your battery, pumping that heat back out, if you can stop it from entering the cabin. If you really really love the glass roof (I don't), you could keep it on...
  13. BEWARE - EVGo at Pilot Flying J - ripoff pricing

Well then, there's a lot of places you won't be able to go. If you have no desire to go anywhere that doesn't have compatible Tesla or RANs on the way, then it isn't stupid.
  14. Conflict at the Supercharger

No, but this is on the Tesla website: "Does the Supercharger cable reach all EVs: Most Supercharger cables at NACS Supercharger sites should be able to reach your EV charge port, however, in some cases you might have to park over the line in order to charge comfortably. Avoid parking diagonally...
  15. Conflict at the Supercharger

Might want to memorize (or print out) this statement from Tesla: "Most Supercharger cables at NACS Supercharger sites should be able to reach your EV charge port, however, in some cases you might have to park over the line in order to charge comfortably. Avoid parking diagonally to reach the...
  16. Conflict at the Supercharger

Rivian wasn't trying to "be cute." There was no reason to try to make Rivians compatible with Tesla Super Chargers, when they were designed.
  17. Conflict at the Supercharger

I haven't had any issues with EA, lately. I had some issues last summer - slow charge, couldn't start charge at one or more chargers, etc., but I was always able to get a charge. There - not *everything* you've read says that EA sucks.
