I have been investing for a long while and not once bought an IPO (for better or worse). I'll probably buy this one after reading the S-1, and might go heavy or light depending.
I like to buy company's that I like w/ regards to their tech, timing, team stack - Rivian appears to fit that bill...
I think all the reasons you listed are 100% valid for not going with an R1T...
But...
Do you want to have the coolest car around? Faster? Better for the environment? Way more capable in terms of offroad, onroad, snow, sand? Be part of something new? Enjoy the challenges that come with...
Yeah, looks much better...I do like the understated bling of a deep metallic flake, but we'll see how they look in person. My current configuration is Glacier White, but I am now on the fence for LG. Getting an R1S, so I'll likely be able to actually see one prior to final decision :)
Is it just me or does all their pant look flat? I look at Range/Land Rovers or BMW paint (in person of course) and it often has some depth. I know Rivian mentioned most of their paint is metallic but I don't really see it...maybe in person.
Other than work trucks, I see 95% of the trucks w/ 6' or longer beds completely empty. Everyday. Not saying these many thousands of people don't maximize their bed once in a while, but I rarely see it...The whole concept of the American truck is utility but I wonder if a study was done on...
Quick Q: When would one use netflix or games on the center display? Also seems a bit awkward for a web browser as well. Have not been in a tesla, so maybe I am missing the use case.
Regional nonsense, especially in California is juvenile at best and moronic at worst if folks are actually serious about it...100D sounds actually serious so I have a feeling I get his/her vibe at this point, sounds no bueno lol
A bit of a glass half empty attitude maybe?...how about we wait to see on release and then base our options on actual experience? This seems like an academic exercise poking holes without any actual data...
I literally walked up to a custom wrapped brand new model Y (with 21” tires btw) and the door, front/rear quarter panels were completely out of line. I could not believe it and I would not have accepted that car.
Interesting. I would think that without wind resistance, like at 80mph, the electric torque at low speed would not be wildly inefficient at low speeds. A Jeep needs to be at 4K rpm-ish for max torque. An EV totally different, albeit a lot heavier. We’ll see!
I expect the opposite. The idea that bigger = better = more valuable is a bankrupt idea. Bigger house using more energy, building materials, and maintenance?
Bigger car requiring more mining, energy, space to keep it (work or in the community), driven a tiny fraction of the day 24/7, and...
No, I was using a truck bed as a criteria...I know folks call SUVs trucks, but I don't for whatever reason.
Agree, there are longer vehicles, but Rivian will still be one of the longer vehicles on the road ex-trucks. It's basically on the smaller side of the massive/ginormous SUV class of...
I think like long distance trips, planning is going to play in to where you can actually hunt in an EV. There may be spots too remote until EV infrastructure catches up. I still find myself using mom and pop single pump gas stations next to the town grocery store in remote locations. Hopefully...
How many non-truck vehicles are longer than 202". It is going to be one of the longest non-truck vehicles on the road.
With the frunk and the 3rd row down storage is going to way surpass almost any other vehicle on the road. Perhaps people haul a lot of stuff, but my sense in the storage...
