I can penny pinch too...but when you look at even a $5k option on a 70-80K purchase if you keep the truck 10 years - $5,000/10/12/30 = equals less than 50% of a starbucks drink a day...and you you have the truck you want for 10 years, probably driving close to daily. Just saying ;)

Only my opinion, but I think Rivian should forget the Rally, and make the Amazon delivery van for the consumer market. I see the mod'd Sprinters and others - really the only ICE vehicle I would consider. And they already have the tooling...we'll see.

If Rivian decides to take on the retail sports 4wd van market in a few years that would be a SERIOUS consideration as an upgrade if my R1S experience goes well. Always love the modern 4wd sprinters, but won’t buy a new ice car ever again.

You are going to have to figure out your risk tolerance. I have mentioned this before, but I would not recommend a LE Rivian to most of my friends and family. It is a 1.0 car from a 1.0 company...If it is totally smooth sailing, great. But I am not going to rant/rave if some issues come up...
