awesome, i'm gonna try this!
I swear i was being gaslighted by my Rivian... I would get in and feel like i'm an inch closer to the steering wheel than I was before.
I was in the same boat and just got these tires with the OEM 20's. So far I'm happy, but it's early... Will see after I've had more time with them and they wear in.
EV specific has more to do with range and wear characteristics. An AT tire will be noisier than a road tire pretty much always. I'm happy with the "noise" that they make, it's not distracting at all. If you want complete silence though, stick with a road tire.
I didn't get it above 60, but yeah there's a "noise" from low 50's to 60 at least. "Loudest" at ~55 like you said. I wouldn't call it loud by any definition of the word. I'd just say it's there if you have your music off and you're looking for it, compared to absolutely zero noise from the stock...
I'm getting mine installed as we speak and will let you know. I saw a thread where the Toyo engineers mentioned something about noise at that speed, might just be their resonance zone. Supposedly quiet at all other speeds from what I recall. I'd also say to let them wear in a little bit. New...
Could you send more full side view pics, specifically in high mode? No worries if not. Just twiddling my thumbs excitedly waiting for mine to arrive :)
Can I ask what you paid? I'm quoted for $1725 out the door not including extra road hazard warranty.
Also, how do they ride? Do they take road imperfections well?
How do they take small bumps/imperfections? Relatively smooth on the highway?
I just got the 20" wheels and was thinking of going with these. Wondering how much ride comfort I'd be sacraficing over the 21"s. I had a loaner with the 20" pirellis with 20k miles, they were loud but rode "okay". If...
The one's who are getting worse efficiency are comparing them to the stock 21's (33" tire to 33" tire). If you replace your 34" Pirelli with the 33" Michelin, you will see a noticeable efficiency improvement.
The new Taycan is the best EV on the market right now in real world road trip conditions (range/efficiency/charge speed/charge curve/charge conditions). They are clearly capable.
I called about getting the wheels only and they quoted me prices. First guy said I could use my Rivian Gear shop credit towards the purchase, second guy said I couldn't. Every time I talk to someone at Rivian I get a different answer.
Not surprised that the person answering emails at Toyo was incorrect. Thanks for confirming.
I would go with the Michelin if it weren't for the bare looks, it's a shame they don't dress up the sidewalls just a little more. Is the Nitto EV specific? Seems like the Toyo is the only one of these...
