  1. Rivian Automatically Records "Incidents" - Privacy Concerns

True, but the problem becomes who defines "unsafe". Having no accidents and breaking no laws, but "they" decide they don't like the data that they see and charge you more. One man's - having fun and breaking no laws is another man's - unsafe and must pay more. And, this process is very opaque...
  2. Rivian applies for federal loan to restart Georgia EV factory construction [⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

When you conflate Social Security and Medicare taxes with income taxes, then you end up with this misrepresentation. Social Security and Medicare taxes (FICA) are an investment in your retirement. They are also income capped as well as benefit payment capped, so to combine these with income...
  3. App - Update location access to always

Thank you for that info. With Always Access, is my location continuously being transmitted to anyone? None of my apps are set to have Always Access partially for privacy concerns.
  4. App - Update location access to always

Thanks. That is not much drain on the phone. I have been using the setting - while using the app. When I want proximity, I open the app. Not sure why they have to "remind" me to set it to always every time I open the app, when I don't want that functionality.
  5. App - Update location access to always

I really don't know. Is that 1-2% in total, or from the Rivian app specifically?
  6. App - Update location access to always

Is there a way to prevent this from coming up every time I open the app (other than the obvious solution of changing location access to always)? I have always assumed that giving the app access to location - always will result in increased battery drain on the phone. Does anyone know if that...
  7. Fearing surveillance and remote control, US to ban Chinese connected cars

I wonder where this ends? Considering the recent pager operation, we should consider that tens of millions of iPhones come into the US each year. One could write a disturbing real life movie script involving those phones and a remote activation.
  8. tax write off of electricity used?

Who is buying the Rivian, you or the company? I believe that if you are the owner, then you can use the standard mileage rate, and you will pay for the R1S. If the company owns the Rivian and has paid for it, then you would need to use actual expenses. Just book the electricity as fuel.
  9. Reverted to 2023.30.0 Today for No Known Reason

Earlier today, my car went from 2024.19.4 to 2023.30.0 for an unknown reason. I was having no issues. Anyone else?

  12. R1S Version 1 - Large Pack Original Battery Size in kW?

The Rivian API now includes the current total battery capacity. Attached is from Electrafi showing mine at 128.354996 (for those that call it a guess-o-meter - apparently the guess-o-meter goes to the sixth decimal place). What was the spec of the R1S Large Pack in version 1? I am curious to...
  13. USB-C hub for front console

I have been using this product, and it works well to split USB C power. USB-C Cable Power Splitter Black (MFi) – Alldock

  15. Double billing at Tesla Supercharger

Remove your cc from the Rivian app. I did same test with no cc in Rivian app all went well
  16. My 2019 Tesla MX chargers faster

Many valid points made about efficiency etc. Another point is that the MPH that you reference is the RATED range being added. I have had 5 Teslas and can guarantee you that Testa RATED Range is a Fantasy in the mind of Tesla Engineers. The Rivian is much better at delivering Rated range in...
  17. Question regarding Supercharging

I pushed my R1S on a trip to Florida last week. 0 Miles as I pulled in EA. That's nuts.
  18. Rivian Plug & Charge on Supercharger vs Tesla Membership (Combine for Best of Both Worlds)

Has anyone compared the cost to charge on the Tesla Superchargers using Plug & Charge vs using the Tesla App and their $12.99 per month membership which provides discounted rates? More specifically, can you link a Tesla membership to the Rivian Plug & Charge to get the convenience of Plug &...
