Even worse than it being not automatic, like my GM vehicle, I have had it turn on the seat heater when hitting the button, when the temperature is above 100F.
I can confirm (Gen 1) that in highway assist the driver assist shows up in place of the map, on the driver screen. If just adaptive cruise is used, then the map remains on the center of the driver display.
Personally I want the dancing car display to be off in all cases. It is useless to me...
Why do all other EVs offer this? It is a very basic function.
I have three different electric rates, on peak, off peak and super off peak. I set my other two EVs to finish charging at the end of super off peak, meaning I optimize cost of charging. If they have to start early in order to hit...
Ford basically already does this, but when leaving unmapped roads they make you put a hand on the wheel to keep the auto-steering active. They do the auto-steering on all roads, jsut not hands free. GM is doing this on 26 models with Super Cruise, but Super Cruise already has way more mapped...
It is not that chargers do not work in those temps, it is that they derate quickly. I have a lot of experience with Tesla chargers derating when above 90F, but under the same conditions EA chargers do not derate. The RAN in Wickenburg is CCS, not NACS. I used it once in April jsut to try it...
That looks just like the Cruise Bolts they test in Phoenix and SF. Interestingly, Tesla just got approved by ADOT in Arizona to use their Robotaxis here.
The upper temp range is also a miss, only 104F. In the southwest 110+ is typical in the summer. Based on my experience in the summer at Tesla chargers, I think the NACS connectors may be the weak link.
I am working on an SAE committee that is writing the standard for certification of AI in aviation. One of the key issues is that AI always has uncertainty, as you have pointed out.
One of the ways to get around uncertainty is to use dissimilar sensors and dissimilar AI algorithms. Sensor...
They announced eyes off driving on the Escalades starting in 2028 models and have already selected the Lidar for it. GM already proved out self driving with Cruise, they used to have the driverless Bolts in Phoenix, along with Waymo.
Better yet, stay engaged in the tunnel. GM Supercruise works in tunnels. Ford disengages hands free but keeps autosteer on.
There are many other times it warns it is about to disengage, and having to tug the wheel is an awful solution.
GM has a power bar like this during charging, it only pops up when the charger is unable to support the request from the vehicle. It does take into account the actual limit of the charger.
I have a Ford and a GM in addition to the Rivian. I would put the Rivian software in the middle, GM is the best for me.
My Mach E had many bugs when it first came out, but most of those have been fixed. There UI is pretty slow and they lack features such as customizable driver displays...
I am not really sure about those temporary ones, but they are made of the same compounds.
I have three trailers and those tires always "look great" too. A few years ago I had severe blowouts two weekends in a row on my boat trailer. The date codes showed almost 7 years old, so ended up...
Total cost is a wash, without 5 tire rotation you buy them more often. All tires have to be replaced after 6 years anyway, even if they are only a spare, the rubber degrades/dry rots.
Last time I checked the cost of the hazard warranty at Discount, it was 25% per tire, so buying 5 and not...
