One thing to be careful about with the Tesla app is that it does not automatically update after you first select a site. You have to tap it again to refresh it. The EA app does not behave this way, nor does Google.
I also do not have this in Apple maps on my phone, but Google on my phone and...
All other networks have a public API with that data. EA and Tesla did not have a public API. EA status did show up last month in Google, but not Apple.
Edit: In Arizona, I see all of these network statuses in Google and Apple maps, as well as Plugshare:
- EVGO
- ChargePoint
- EV Connect
-...
Flagstaff is always full, even when all those chargers are working. Fortunately, Ionna is building a new site there and they will be much cheaper than the RAN. The Tesla site in Flagstaff has the 250kw units, but they never opened it up to other EVs.
My EA experiences in the southwest have been pretty flawless also, had one charger in Vegas fault after a few minutes last year. I always use the app and swipe before plugging in, EA told me long ago on the phone to charge that way, and it works 100% of the time. I do not use P&C on Tesla or...
RAN is too expensive and they will have to bring down prices to be competitive. They are the most expensive in AZ. Almost every site they have here has competition, which is cheaper.
In Quartzsite, EA and Tesla are both $0.42/kwh with memberships (0.56 without), RAN is $0.61 for Rivian and...
It needs to be done on L2, NOT DCFC. There will be no cell balancing when using DCFC. And you need to let the battery voltage reach a resting state for the BMS to figure out the real state of charge, that is why you wait 3 hours before and after charging.
NMC do need recalibration occasionally. The best way to do it is to deplete the battery to 10% or less, then let it sit 3 hours. Then charge it to 100% and let it sit 3 hours. Do this a couple of times a year. You can also get an idea of battery health when doing this by seeing how many kwh...
Louie Mattar could change a tire while driving. I have seen the car at the museum in Balboa Park.

They should just install Google maps in the vehicle like GM, Volvo, Polestar, Ford, etc., without the need for Rivian "spin". Then you can get the weekly updates, new features and Waze reporting. My Hummer has had the Waze reporting for over a year now, it has ALL charging networks in the...
I always swipe that app before plugging in, and it works 100% of the time. In fact you will see a message on the charger screen that tells you to plug in, after it validates the payment. My Mach E has plug and charge, but because I have the membership, I always initiate with the app to get the...
My Mach E had rodent damage a couple of years ago, totally bricked it, and was $6500 covered by insurance. They had to drop the battery to replace one of the harnesses that was damaged. Same thing, dealer told me to contact the insurance company right away.
Send the ABRP plan to Google maps, then you can send that to the Rivian app on your phone.
You can even manually plan it out with Google maps and just manually pick the chargers you want, then send to Rivian.
Now that Tesla supports other OEMs, that algorithm is not much better than EA. I tend to look at the status a few miles from the charger exit, and if there is an alternate, I go to that if it is indicating full. If there is no alternate, then the status is useless, just have to wait in line.
I noticed this exact same issue. And when I tried the stupid off peak settings, it has the wrong electric plan for me. APS has 4 plans, but Rivian shows only one, and it is not the cheapest.
I was able to do a test today with my Hummer at a fairly busy EA site. Pulled up with it showing 1 of 4 available and that matched. I plugged in and started charging, it took the Google maps status in the truck 3 minutes to update. I stayed until each of the other three cars left, each time...
I think there is a delay, but not sure what that time delay is. I do think that Google keeps up with the EA app, but not sure how often they are pinging the sites. I have seen Tesla sites be off in their app, usually by one vehicle, but so many Teslas are coming and going from those all the...
ChargePoint chargers do not use screw connections, they are levers. I gave up on CP chargers after having two of them fail. I now have 2 Autel units, that work great, one app for the two and I can power balance them via wifi. Mine are on two separate breakers.
