My issue could be a coincidence....

My Gen 2 had a history of very low vampire drain. But when I updated to .46 I started seeing BIG losses parked away from home. Now, even plugged in I'm losing 4.5 kWh per 24 hours. I know that can be associated with a failing 12V. The 12V failure could be coincidental...

I'm also started getting a dashboard warning to "Carry key card at all times", figured that was associated with the new .46 capability. Anybody else getting this warning? This started appearing right after the update.

I doesn't seem like there are widespread reports of 12V issues after .46?

@Budman you could hook your 12v up to a trickle charger directly for some testing…

My 12v shows normal in @Rivian Roamer dashboard.

I've noticed sporadic days with high energy use recently, but nothing I can pin down specifically.

One hypothesis is that it's related to turning on the HVAC remotely (unscheduled). I believe the truck kept the hvac on long after I finished my short trip.

I've noticed it less as I'm being more cautious about remotely turning on the HVAC. But it might be unrelated.

I think the "carry key card" message is related to the 12V issue. The LVB powers the proximity modules, and if it is weak, the truck is warning you that the proximity capability may be reduced or fail completely. Maybe to save the LVB, Rivian cuts down the power provided to LVB systems. Or maybe they are just warning you that those systems will fail if the LVB fails.

I feel like my kWh usage is all related to WiFi. I am unsure why a 10gb download in 1 day, post .46 update on a Gen 1 is for? Maybe Gen 1 is downloading the UHF data unnecessarily?

Just prior to this screen shot I ā€œPausedā€ the Rivian on my home network to see what the drain is in the next 24 hours.

This is google wifi correct? 10gb is excessive especially when an update is not being downloaded. I usually turn WiFi off when updates are not pending. I have seen large downloads have no impact on VD though.

I used to see large downloads like this (ā€˜23 Gen 1). I haven’t paid attention in a while but checked just now since I forgot to turn WiFi off after the last update and don’t see anything near 12GB.

How do you identify the Rivian in your devices list of your router? Is there a way to find the vehicle’s WiFi MAC?

I add new devices to my guest network, identify them there, rename as needed, then move to my main network.

Check this thread for various known MAC addresses. There may be others if you search the form for the mention of MAC address.

'23 Gen1 R1T nearly 15 hours, 8c weather, gear guard off, no WiFi available. 0.2kWh

I find the 24hour estimate off, but it may be accounting for me typically sitting in my vehicle at work for about 20 minutes with the heat on etc 🤷

This really sucks. Never had this issue for 2 years and 8 months using PAAK and now I'm feeling that dreaded vampire drain issue. They have to fix this as it is absolutely ridiculous.

Fingers crossed all will be good here. No gear guard or wifi here, can't afford crazy vampire drain with when using a level one charger bwahaha.

I’m seeing a 1.4 kW loss per day at home:
- Gear Guard on but off at home
- Proximity lock and unlock on but off at home
- G1 S
- Still on 2025.38.0

I’ve wondered whether ā€œoff at homeā€ means off completely or means on (still running in the background) but no gear guard recordings are saved and the proximity locking/unlocking actuations are prevented.

I thought someone pinned this down a year or two ago but can’t remember (hope it wasn’t me).

I turned everything off this morning and will check later.

This is what I am seeing as well, and it is the same as before the update. No drain increase for my truck so far.
