I guess when there are no mapped roads, there are no highways. You could have fooled me. I have always thought that any road that was paved was a highway. Rivian started off as an adventure vehicle builder. They have now morphed into a city vehicle builder. It seems all of the recent updates are aimed at big city driving scenarios. The Rivian motto of "keep the world adventurous forever" seems to have fallen by the wayside in favor of the big city way of life.

For me I can't see any added value over the many-decades-old three blink signal.
Same here. I can't imagine doing a "full click" on the stalk for a lane change. I don't think I've done that in years, except accidentally.

Works well on a Tesla (when I had my stalk-less Model S). You hit it once and it stayed on until the lane change was complete.

yeah, my 89 BMW did the three click thing. I'm kinda indoctrinated. šŸ˜†

For those who live where the roads are very congested (for example in gridlock southern california), sometimes you have to signal for a long time before there is an opening, and that when the three blink quick signal doesn't really work.

What I like: You can use either the three-blink OR the auto-cancel feature, unlike Tesla which will only do auto-cancel if you have it enabled, they take away the three-blink.

What I don't like: Why highway only? I can see that the car knows it is changing lanes on city streets as well, why does it only work on the highway?

I assume city street usage will show up in the future.

Only works on highways. I finally had it trigger today moving into an exit lane on the highway. I didn't care for it in that instant because I would've left the turn signal on because I was exiting and turning the same direction. Now I have to hit the signal twice to do that.
For me it does not work at all. I've confirmed it is turned on in settings. Auto-cancel does not work on highways/freeways when full auto is on. Any ideas?

It works for me but stays on a bit too long after completing the lane change. My wife’s Tesla turns off faster.

I don’t like that a fundamental function of a turn indicator performs differently depending on what Rivian maps. Feels like bad user interface/experience. I prefer to have it function the same across all driving.

Tesla seems to have this one sorted. And when it works on highways, Rivian has it sorted pretty well.

Easy to Monday morning quarterback here but I fail to see the technical hurdle preventing this from working on other striped multi-lane roads. Not sure why this feature is geofenced.

Resurrecting this old thread because I have been struggling with this lately. I have problems with fine motor control with my left hand, I can start a turn signal easily but it’s hard to turn it off.
I recently had a rental Tesla that made all that a thing of the past.
The Rivian has a switch where I can turn this on, but it does not seem to actually work on any street, highway, or freeway. Sure wish it would do something.

It only works on freeways if I remember, possibly only mapped ones, but I’m fuzzy on that.

That’s my understanding as well and it works consistently on highways in my area.
