I have downloaded the .10 update. The Smart Turn Signal feature is turned on. I have tried it a number of times and can not get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

I haven't actually tried it, but if I remember correctly, you have to be in highway assist, then hit blinker and scoot over. Have you tried that?

It works even when Highway Assist is off but it only seems to work on highways where HA is available. I used it this week with a trailer when I had dumb cruise control only and it worked fine on the mainlanes but did not on the feeder(access) road along side the highway.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will not often get to use this feature. The nearest road with HA is I-10 which is about 45 miles away.

Did you try toggling Smart Turn Signal off/on? I’m not sure if anyone has posted a remedy for this but you might try searching the forum.

I used it quite a bit today. Both with HA on and off - unfortunately I can't remember if I was always on a mapped road when I used it.

If a new feature doesn’t seem to work or is buggy, do a hard reset (left outer steering button and hazard light). Sometimes that’s all you need to do to make a feature work.

Gen1 doesn’t have auto lane change. The smart turn signal just auto cancels after a lane change. So instead hitting the three blink short push, you hit the normal signal and once you are done switching lanes (manually) it will auto cancel. I doubt it needs a mapped road.

I confirmed it does not work on city streets, it only works on highways.

I confirmed this today also. The release notes say "on a highway". See below.

New Driver Assistance Features: Smart Turn Signals and Go Chime
â—¦ The turn signals now automatically turn off after you perform a manual lane change on a highway.

Only works on highways. I finally had it trigger today moving into an exit lane on the highway. I didn't care for it in that instant because I would've left the turn signal on because I was exiting and turning the same direction. Now I have to hit the signal twice to do that.

This is why I always turned it off on my Teslas

For me I can't see any added value over the many-decades-old three blink signal.
