still a week out from mobile appt. R1S hasn't moved since being parked and tethered. No R2 invite either. Nearing the end of The Count's Rivian experiment?

You keeping it plugged in? Nothing sadder than a 12V bricked Rivian in the royal courtyard ;)

I mean, there's 100k R1 vehicles and a lot of them are starting to hit the 3 year mark. Lead acid batteries generally last 3-5 years, and we know Rivian is pretty hard on theirs. It makes sense to have so many proactive warnings all in the last few weeks.

But, I also reset ours, on Sunday, still hasn't come back yet. Also was able to get the hotfix update installed after I did the reset too.
I reset mine as well and hasn't come back, but that was only yesterday. In the RIDE dashboard it's reading ~13.1v so appears healthy from that reading though I know that doesn't tell the full story. Planning to pull it and put it on a battery tester when I get a chance.

This is what The Count gets for making a glib comment recently about "what are you people doing to kill your 12 volt batteries."
I got the warning last week, my LE R1T is 4 years old, but the battery was replaced early by mobile service, so my battery was same age as OP. I got an appointment in the app, for this week, and they called me to move it up a day, so took less than a week to get replaced after getting the error.

I called when it first happened, and asked if I could replace myselt. They recommended not, there is some communication with the battery that could result in software issues if not done correctly. (Not sure I got the story right). They said I could drive it, but just keeping charging when not driving. So I kept using mine, but just local driving. I asked again at the service center what happened if I installed myself, they cautioned if I installed I likely would not get warning alarms about a low battery next time.

They said they replaced both batteries in my R1T for the price of 1

I'm a little annoyed because:
1. I can't replace a 12V battery myself?
2. It cost literally $500 (w tax) to replace the batteries, which supposedly was a deal because they replaced the 2nd battery for free (normally $259 bare cost according the invoice)
3. I did not realize there were better battery options from Rivian, when I went in he said they were going back with the original design, and not a Li battery option that some used.

I did get mine fixed pretty quickly compared to OP's experience, but its way more trouble than it should have been. It took me about an hour and $160 to replace a 12V battery in a Kia EV6 with a AGM version just a few weeks ago.

I will say the service center experience has improved a lot over the 4 years. My first year I went to Atlanta a few times, pretty terrible, slow, not knowledgeable at all, and generally would not communicate. I can go to Charlotte now, much closer, and I mostly get meaningful information when I talk to them.

There are no other Rivian options. They all have the same SLA battery type. They do not offer any alternatives. They have never offered lithium or sodium 12v batteries.

Says who?! Sure you can, if you want to. The option is even mentioned in this thread.
I know I can physically, but Rivian tells me there is risk of software errors and Rivian is telling me not to replace it myself due to those risks. Sorry for not being more clear. The service center guy mentioned some have done it, but have lost some of the communication between the battery and vehicle.

I mean, replacing a 12V battery should just be like changing out light bulb in my house, something the mfr/design has implemented in a way they can tell anyone how to replace their battery themselves. The service rep did say there was a chance there would be a recommended way for owners to replace his battery at home in the future, but wasn't for sure yet.

That's talked about in this and other 12V threads also. At one point the software version threw codes and the only option was to make a service appt for Rivian to clear them. I don't think that is the case anymore. One could just go into the RiDE service menu to reset. Wassym spoke of a future update that brings the capability out of the "hidden" RiDE menu and into the service tab in vehicle settings. But that has yet to materialize.

You can't reset the Replace 12V battery notification via the Ride Menu (not any longer). You can clear out any other codes, but I didn't have any codes thrown when I replaced mine with Sodium Ion.

Is not being able to reset the “replace 12v battery” notification specific to after replacing with Ohmmu? Because I was able to clear the same notification yesterday using the RIDE menu, but hadn’t replaced the battery.

It can't be removed without factory service, if it is in a combination with a battery replacement. That is the exact question I asked service, and that is what they told me.

So is it possible to reset the notification first in the RIDE menu and then change the batteries?
